Aaron Carter was trying to get back his life before his unexpected death on Saturday.
At the age of 34, Carter's life and career were cut short after he was found dead in his bathroom inside his home. Although buzz has been suggesting that he claimed his own life, the "I'm All About You" hitmaker was hopeful to get back on track.
One of the last projects he worked on was an independent sitcom, which was left unfinished following his death.
Carter filmed the pilot episode of "Group" where he shared his mental health recovery. With his death, the writer and director revealed what would be the next step as the singer is no longer there to be part of it.
In a statement to Deadline on Tuesday, writer and director Brian Farmer expressed his heartbreak after learning about the death of Nick Carter's brother.
"Aaron was so excited about the show and helped raise awareness for mental health, a topic he was very passionate about. He said being a part of the show gave him something positive to work toward, and I'll forever cherish that," he said, as quoted by PEOPLE.
Farmer recalled working with Carter, who reportedly had a kind soul. He then revealed they would miss working with him on "Group."
In the same statement, it was confirmed that the sitcom would be completed in his memory and continued as if he was still part of it in the flesh.
Carter played the fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom, and the singer had been wanting to share his life story through the show.
He had been working with other celebrities on the project, including Mike Starr, Anne Judson-Yager, Ari Stidham, Olive Chiaachia, and Sam Levine, to name a few.
