Coolio's family expressed their love for the late rapper months after his death.

After losing Coolio, his family planned to create a custom marker for him by working with a special headstone designer. The design reportedly includes photos of him and a homage to his biggest record, "Gangsta's Paradise."

Although he was cremated, his family wanted to create a physical place to visit him with a special headstone. According to a news outlet, they enlisted Cemetery Tim who notably create headstones for Eazy E, Anthony Johnson, and Nate Dogg.

The designer confirmed that he had been in touch with Coolio's girlfriend about making the headstone. He then delivered it to the rapper's family and had since been placed at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles.

The marker has the words, "I'm home now in gangsta's paradise."

The move came months after the rapper was found unconscious at the 2900 block of South Chesapeake Ave. Los Angeles Fire Department's Capt. Erik Scott revealed that they responded to the area after receiving a call about a man who needed medical attention.

Responders tried to revive him for 45 minutes, but Collio was declared dead minutes later.

His manager, Jarez Posey, eventually confirmed his death. He told several news outlets, including NBC News, that the rapper died of an apparent heart attack. But his friends believed he died because of a different reason.

Coolio's Real Cause of Death

Following Coolio's passing, his pals told a news outlet that he suffered from asthma for years. Investigators said they would look into his history with the condition, but no known development has since been shared.

This was probably the reason why Collio always brought inhalers whenever he was traveling. Fans also spotted him using it during his performances.

According to the American Heart Association, patients with asthma have a higher risk of developing a heart condition known as atrial fibrillation.

"We initially suspected that the link between asthma and atrial fibrillation may be explained by high levels of common inflammation markers in the blood at the baseline of the study," assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Dr. Matthew Tattersall, said.

In 2016, Coolio suffered an asthma attack while performing at Hill Country Barbecue Market in Brooklyn. Page Six revealed that a fan helped him and gave him an inhaler.
