Fetty Wap will soon determine the length of his jail time after pleading guilty to a federal drug charge.
The official documents obtained by AllHipHop revealed that the supposed Jan. 18 Fetty Wap's sentencing was rescheduled for March 9. Judge Joanna Seybert delayed it through a court order she issued on Wednesday, saying that the US Probation Department asked the judge to postpone the proceedings.
Fetty Wap, whose real name is William Junior Maxwell II, was arrested in October 2021 before his scheduled performance at the Rolling Loud Festival. He was held on federal narcotics charges at New York's City Field and charged with "conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances, including cocaine, fentanyl and heroin."
He has since pleaded guilty to the crime in August 2022.
After making the plea in Central Islip on Long Island before U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven Locke, it was announced that the rapper would face at least five years imprisonment.
CBS News cited authorities' findings, claiming that Fetty Wap and five others used the U.S. Postal Service and cars with hidden compartments between June 2019 and June 2020 as they distributed at least 100 kilograms of illegal substance.
The group reportedly drove from the West Coast to Long Island and New Jersey as part of their scheme. After reaching Long Island, they allegedly distributed the drugs to dealers.
With the incident, the rapper was accused of being a kilogram-level redistributor.
Before Fetty Wap, two of his co-defendants also pleaded guilty to charges - Robert Leonardi and Anthony Cyntje. They admitted to conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances and a firearms charge, respectively.
Fetty Wap's Statement After 2021 Arrest Revisited
Before his Rolling Loud Festival performance, FBI agents discovered several illegal drugs in Fetty Wap's belongings. They included 16 kilograms of cocaine, fentanyl pills, two kilograms of heroin, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol, two 9mm handguns, and ammunition.
The authorities also retrieved $1.5 million in cash.
After the arrest, he issued a statement months later to thank everyone amid his legal battle.
"I just want to thank all the fans, you feel me? All the fans showing me love, sending all the reels and the stories and everything and all the tags, photos and everything like that, ya heard?" he said, according to Yahoo! Sports. "You know, I got my head up always, you know what I'm saying? Like never bent, never fol. I love y'all, thank y'all for everything, you know what I'm saying?"
