It's been nearly three years since Corey Taylor released his debut album "CMFT" and it appears that fans will be getting a big treat this 2023 as it has been confirmed that the metal rocker will drop his new record soon.
The news was confirmed by bassist Eliot Lorango who took to his official Facebook account to share photos from their final rehearsal for the musician's album recording.
"Final rehearsal prep with @coreytaylor before we start recording the new record. It's gonna be awesome," he wrote, before sharing an update two days later, saying they wrapped up the first day and it sounds "rad."
Aside from Lorango, producer Jay Ruston is also said to be working with Taylor, according to Blabbermouth.
As of this writing, Corey Taylor has not publicly announced the official release date of his next project, but he has been talking about his second solo album over the past few months.
Corey Taylor Has Been Teasing His New Album For MONTHS
In a previous interview with SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk," the metal rocker confirmed that after touring with Slipknot, he is going to "bang it out and get it ready" by releasing a new project as well as going on a solo tour along with other musical acts that needed spotlight in the music industry. "I'm gonna try and really kind of fly the rock flag and give some opportunities to some of the younger bands and maybe even just the mid-level bands that just haven't had a shot. 'Cause there's so many great bands out there," he said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Taylor gave fans a hint about the songs that would be a part of his next album, saying he wrote over 15 tracks, including some "older stuff" that some fans are already familiar with.
The tracklist includes a few songs that he previously performed under JBKD (Corey Taylor & The Junk Beer Kidnap Band) like "Beyond" and "Breath Of Fresh Smoke," which will be re-recorded after more than a decade and a half.
In addition, he would also include songs with a "darker edge" but melodic at the same time.
"It's less an homage of the stuff that I grew up on and more of what people are used to hearing from me - but still a solo album. So there's still great rock and roll on it," he added.
