George Thorogood's serious medical condition just halted a tour that probably spent months and millions of dollars to plan.
Fans were devastated when The Destroyers announced the postponement of their 50th-anniversary tour because Thorogood has to undergo immediate surgery for a "very serious" medical condition.
But no one is probably as devastated as Thorogood himself, who will have to sit this one out and miss out on all the fun.
Not only that, he's now got hospital bills to pay-exactly how much would the musician be missing out on?
According to reports, Thorogood has an estimated net worth of $50 million, which is pretty decent for a musician whose music career has been established decades ago.
The Destroyers are not as popular as other rock bands today, but they boast a solid fandom who have been waiting for their celebratory tour for years.
The upsetting news came a few days ago when the band informed their fans of Thorogood's condition.
"George has been diagnosed with a very serious medical condition that will require immediate surgery and quite a few weeks of recuperation and healing," the statement read.
"You, our fans, mean the world to us, and we know this news is not want you wanted to hear, but rest assured George Thorogood and the Destroyers will be back. We'll keep you updated as we know more."
Medical Condition
None of the reports specify exactly what the musician is going through, as they all only note that he has a "very serious" medical condition and that he will require "immediate surgery."
Otherwise, fans are left in the dark as to why the long-awaited tour was put on hold.
Additionally, there is also no follow-up news on when The Destroyers plan to head back on the road, whether they will be waiting for Thorogood to recuperate and heal from surgery, or go on without him.
However, given that the guitarist is now 73 years old, fans are beginning to worry that he might have a harder time recovering from his illness.
50th Anniversary Tour
According to reports, this supposed tour was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band and was slated to kick off in Vancouver.
In fact, their Vancouver show was supposed to happen in two weeks, Apr. 27, but now, it seems like fans would have to wait a little longer to see the band again.
