Kellie Pickler's late husband's parents, who are administrators of his estate, have issued a subpoena for his phone records, emails, text messages, and electronic footprints from cell phone tower pings.
As reported by Radar Online, the unusual request for data comes nine months after songwriter Kyle Jacobs, aged 49, was discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in their Nashville home, which he shared with the former "American Idol" alum.
At the time of Kyle's tragic death, Kellie was sleeping inside the residence and later found her husband's lifeless body in an upstairs bedroom. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head, ruling it a suicide.
Kyle Jacobs' Parents File A Subpoena
In a surprising turn of events, Kyle's parents recently filed court documents seeking a wide range of data from the AT&T Subpoena Center and Apple's law enforcement division, dating back to January 1, 2021, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.
The subpoena to AT&T demanded, "all call originations, call termination, call attempts, voice and text message transactions including push to talk, data communications, SMS and MMS communications, and voice communications."
It also requested "beginning and ending switch and cell site/tower identifiers for each call."
The data request from Apple was equally comprehensive, seeking "all iCloud data" and information about the songwriter's contacts associated with two of his email accounts.
The court documents explain that the requests are made "to present evidence in a probate matter," although the exact details of the probate matter remain undisclosed.
Kellie Pickler opted not to take charge of her late husband's estate, allowing his parents to handle all matters.
The couple, known for their country music careers, tied the knot in 2011, and Kyle gained recognition for writing songs for prominent country singers.
The reason behind the data request remains unknown, and it is unclear if it is related to Kyle Jacobs' songwriting copyrights or royalties.
