Slipknot has been around for decades and many fans have been wondering if they will still continue their legacy over the next years, especially after what happened in 2023 as Jay Weinberg and Craig Jones departed from the group. In addition, they also completed their contract with Roadrunner Records.
More recently, percussionist Shawn Crahan, popularly known for his stage name/moniker Clown, predicted what the future holds for the popular metal band.
The musician acknowledged the group's talent in an interview with Kerrang! ahead of their tour next year which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their self-titled album.
"I don't want this to sound like a cop-out, but honestly, we're special... We are a very, very unique thing. And I can say that now," he said.
Shawn 'Clown' Crahan Will Continue to Perform Until His 70s
Later on, Crahan admitted that Slipknot had always boasted that idea, but since he's been living it his entire life, he knows that the band is "just unique in the sense that I don't think we're ever going to know any other way."
He also noted that he might still be performing even when he reached a certain age where most people would retire.
Sometimes I'm scared to think that I'll be 70, pretending to myself that I'm going to slam while playing the song '(sic)'. But the crazy thing is, you and I both know that it's possible," he added. (via Key J)
Regardless of the prediction, Crahan said he still doesn't know what the future looks like, but he noted that when the time comes, he will have worked it out himself.
"The point is, that's the gift. We just have this thing that I'm really blessed to be a part of," he noted.
Slipknot Tour 2024
The recent interview comes after Slipknot announced that they will be going on tour across the Europe and the United Kingdom next year to celebrate their debut album.
In a previous interview with Metal Hammer, Crahan noted that it's been more than two decades since the band performed in Europe and they're excited to come back.
"Be prepared for an energy you've never experienced before. It's happening," he teased.
This will be the first time the group would go on a series of concerts since they parted ways with their former drummer, Jay Weinberg.
