Will.i.am Shares Interactive 'The World Is Crazy' Music Video, Inspired By Current Events [WATCH]
Even though Will.i.am's song "The World Is Crazy" was released back in April 2013 on his most recent solo album #willpower, the song has finally been given a music video, though it's not quite your typical music video. The video stars Will.i.am as a news anchor reporting on all of the most important news stories of the moment, including the Sydney siege and the Taliban school massacre, but what sets this video apart is that it's interactive. When you click on one of the news stories scrolling across the bottom of the screen, you're taken to an article about the story, which will hopefully make you realize that there are more important and pressing matters in the world than listening to Will.i.am songs. -

Charli XCX Performs 'Need Ur Luv' on 'Letterman' with Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij [WATCH]

Charli spends most of the performance singing and dancing from the top of Batmanglij's piano, offering quite a unique spin on what could have been just another typical late night performance. You can check out Charli XCX's performance of "Need Ur Luv" featuring Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij from "The Late Show with David Letterman" here — and notice how Letterman does not attempt to pronounce "Batmanglij": -

Wiz Khalifa Samples Mac DeMarco For "Smoke Chambers" [LISTEN]
asdEven though he has no upcoming album or mixtape projects that we know about, Wiz Khalifa keeps dropping new songs, his latest being the exceptionally trippy and laidback "Smoke Chambers," which you can check out below. The song heavily samples fellow stoner Mac DeMarco's synthpop number "Chamber of Reflection" from his latest album Salad Days, even keeping DeMarco's original "alone again" vocal hook, which ties in to Khalifa's theme of the alienation his fame has brought him. This is the sort of hazy production that Khalifa should be using more often. -
Ferguson Protests Inspired D'Angelo to Push Up Release of 'Black Messiah'
Earlier this week, neo-soul pioneer D'Angelo surprised the music world by suddenly releasing his new album "Black Messiah," his first new album since his 2000 classic "Voodoo," with almost no warning whatsoever. Despite its absurdly long gestation period, however, "The New York Times" reports that the album's release was somehow still rushed, as D'Angelo's label RCA had originally planned to drop it sometime in early 2015. But following the volatile situation in Ferguson, Missouri, and the grand-jury decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of Michael Brown, D'Angelo decided to push up the album's release to Dec. 15.According to D'Angelo's manager Kevin Liles, D'Angelo had called him up in distress last month following the Ferguson grand-jury decision."He said, 'Do you believe this? Do you believe it?'" Liles recalls. "And then we just sat there in silence. That is when I knew he wanted to say something."With the famously delayed album put on the fast track for release, D'Angelo and RCA pulled "many all-nighters" to finish the album, which included everything from the artwork and tracklist to the music itself. -
St. Vincent Shares Quirky "Birth In Reverse" Music Video [WATCH]
2014 has been quite an incredible year for Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, and today (Dec. 16), she caps off the year with a great music video for her single "Birth in Reverse," which you can check out here. As can be expected from a St. Vincent music video, the whole thing is pretty bizarre, with images of Clark singing and dancing (or something close to dancing) in sterile, dream-like sets, though the highlights of the video are the shots of Clark playing guitar in outer space. -
Tink Shares "Around The Clock" Music Video, Featuring Timbaland, Charlamagne Tha God [WATCH]
Up and coming Chicago rapper, Tink, has shared the music video for her recent single, "Around The Clock" featuring The Breakfast Club host, Charlamagne Tha God, which you can check out here. The DGainz-directed clip is as dark and mysterious as the Timbaland-produced track, with Tink hanging around an inner city alley at night (with Timbaland by her side, wearing sunglasses) and rapping with a confidence far beyond her 19 years. -
YG Shares Minimalist '2015 Flow' Music Video [WATCH]
Compton rapper YG has shared the music video for his recent single "2015 Flow," which you can check out below. The refreshingly minimalist video features YG in a dark room with red and black walls, simply rapping to the camera in a single, unbroken take. As the camera gradually zooms back, it is revealed that DJ Mustard, the track's producer, is sitting on a couch throwing cash around — because this is a rap video, after all.You can check out YG's "2015 Flow" music video here: -

Omar from The Wire, Chalky White from Boardwalk Empire) as an ex-con who gets out of prison and finds his girlfriend with another man, though it gets much darker from there. -

The Gabriel Hart-directed clip features Ca$h, Ty, and Wiz hanging around a smoky warehouse with some dancing women and tons of cash (you know, a rap video), though there's also a subplot involving Asian gangsters. Though it's not quite clear what exactly is going on, there are some pretty neat psychedelic visuals to keep things interesting. -

Southern hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd have shared the music video for their latest single "Up Like Trump," which you can check out below. The video features the duo partying it up in New York City like they own the place — that is probably where the Donald Trump reference comes in — complete with shots of Times Square and someone dressed up like the Statue of Liberty — which is technically in Jersey City, but whatever. There is no word yet as to whether or not Donald Trump plans to sue.You can check out Rae Sremmurd's "Up Like Trump" music video here: -

This has resulted in plenty of inventive and fascinating covers, especially this past year. Here are the year's 10 best cover songs (in no particular order). -

R. Kelly Shares New Track "Back Up" Featuring Shawnna [LISTEN]
R&B legend R. Kelly has shared a cool new track titled "Back Up," featuring a guest verse from fellow Chicago native Shawnna, which you can check out here. Other than the chorus hook, the song sees Kelly taking a break from singing to try his hand at rapping, and he's not bad, but the real draw of this track is the weird production, which lays a sinister, moaning beat underneath the verses. -
T-Pain Shares Behind-The-Scenes Footage In New 'Keep On' Music Video [WATCH]
T-Pain continues to build up the anticipation for his upcoming album "Stoicville" by sharing the music video for a new track titled "Keep On," which you can check out below. The Sam King-directed clip features a ton of live performance footage along with some behind-the-scenes material, including the fateful day when T-Pain cut off his iconic dreads in favor of his current, close-cut look. Though the sprawling track doesn't do away entirely with T-Pain's signature Auto-Tune, his use of the effect in this song is much smoother than on his past hits, allowing his natural voice to shine through. -
Diplo Remixes Ty Dolla $ign's "Stand For" With Members of Grizzly Bear, Vampire Weekend [LISTEN]

The track has been re-titled "Long Way Home" and replaces Ty's verses with Droste's gorgeous vocals, as well as some other embellishments from Batmanglij. "[I]t's about time that indie rock acts started to co-opt rap beats!," Diplo said in the song's original Soundcloud description. -
Marilyn Manson Explains Involvement in Lana Del Rey Rape Video
Last month, a mysterious video by horror director Eli Roth titled "Sturmgruppe 2013 Reel" surfaced online and featured scenes of Lana Del Rey being raped intercut with images of Marilyn Manson. Though Manson's representatives immediately denied that the shock-rock singer had anything to do with the video, Manson himself has now come forward and explained how the disturbing video came to fruition."It was not meant to be a Marilyn Manson video," Manson told "NME." "The editor of the company that put it out was somebody who's edited my videos. That video was something that was done with a camera that Eli, who's my friend, and I both wanted to test out, so I let him test it out."[W]hat they filmed was put in context seemingly as if it were a Marilyn Manson video," he continued, "and that was in no way the intention."Although the video that leaked online was not meant to be a Marilyn Manson video, Manson did want to make a music video with Roth and Del Rey, though it proved too difficult to organize."Eli and I wanted to do a music video with her," Manson explained, "but she was being such a problem, for me personally, although I still respect her, I'm friends with her. I just left, I was tired, I was not willing to make that part of the video. Eli and I originally had intentions of making a video with her, but that is not the intention that is represented in that film clip because that is not what I filmed, not for my video." -

Rich Homie Quan Shares 'Ain't Trippin'' Featuring Young Thug, 'Blah Blah Blah' Remix [LISTEN]
Fresh off the success of their recent Rich Gang mixtape, Atlanta rappers Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug have shared a new collaborative track titled "Ain't Trippin'," which you can check out below. It is not clear if this is a leftover from their Rich Gang sessions, though it could also be a new cut, since their co-conspirator Birdman does not make an appearance. Though the track definitely has a typical hip-hop beat — typical for 2014, anyway — there seems to be more singing than rapping going on.You can check out Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug's "Ain't Trippin'" here:Quan and Thug's Rich Gang mixtape "Tha Tour: Part 1" was released in September and spawned six singles: "Tell Em (Lies)," "Imma Ride," "Freestyle," "Soldier," "Milk Marie" and "Flava." "Tha Tour: Part 1" was Quan and Thug's most-recent, full-length release, and neither have yet to release a studio album. Thug claims his debut album will be titled "Tha Carter VI," since Lil Wayne plans on "Tha Carter V" on being his last, while Quan's upcoming album has yet to be given a title."You can expect Drake on my album. You can expect Boosie on my album," Quan told "Hot New Hip-Hop." "You can expect Thug on there. You can expect Wayne ... I gotta get Nicki on there.""That's why I'm still waiting," he continued, "That's why you ain't heard it yet. I'm still working on it. I gotta get Big Sean on there. A lot of these my idols. People I looked up to coming into the game."In other Rich Homie Quan news, the 25-year-old rapper also shared a remix of his track "Blah Blah Blah" yesterday, featuring new verses from Ty Dolla $ign, Fabolous and Dej Loaf. You can check out that track here:
