Grand Ole Opry Raising Breast Cancer Awareness with LeAnn Rimes, Natalie Grant and Mandisa
The National Football League isn't the only organization that's going pink in honor of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In fact, there are probably literally hundreds of groups denoting the cause. In terms of music, it's hard to find a genre more involved than the country music scene. Even pop music with all of its female superstars struggles to live up to Nashville, both male and female country musicians. Once again, the historic Grand Ole Opry barn will be lit-up pink to raise awareness. -

'Blurred Lines' Finally Passes 'Get Lucky' As The Best-Selling Single in the U.K. for 2013
There was a decent amount of arguing between Daft Punk fans and Robin Thicke fans about what was the unofficial "Song of The Summer:" Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" or Thicke's "Blurred Lines." Sales aren't technically an indicator of what song is actually better, but "Lines" has finally passed "Get Lucky" as the best-selling single of 2013 (in the U.K.). -

Luke Bryan Proposes New Album Based on 'Farm Tour'...A Response To Zac Brown's Criticisms?
Perhaps Luke Bryan took Zac Brown's attack against his hit single "That's My Kind A Night" personally, despite what Jason Aldean advised him. It's been a good long while since the Billboard Hot 100 has seen someone as young as Lorde top the charts for most-played song. 26 years in fact. Lorde is 16 years and 11 months old, and the last time someone around that age topped the charts was when Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" topped the pops during 1987 (That pop star was 16 years, one month old at the time). -
Manchester Warehouse Project Using Social Media To Spread Word about Bad Pills
Following a number of deaths from MDMA (ecstasy or "molly" in its powdered form), publication The Economist has posed a radical solution: free testing. A government organization in the Netherlands already offers pill-testing to ravers and EDM attendees at electronic music shows, and those who engage in the service aren't subject to prosecution. The idea is to stem the number of hospitalizations and deaths tied to the drugs, but The Netherlands is far less conservative than the United States and the U.K., where a majority of the recent molly-deaths have occurred. -

'Duck Dynasty' Cast Releasing Christmas Album, Guest Starring George Strait, Luke Bryan, and Allison Krauss

That band became De La Tierra -

CBGB Music and Film Festival Bringing My Morning Jacket, Grizzly Bear and James Murphy to Times Square
If New York City were to host a similar version of South by Southwest, it would make sense to name it after CBGB, due to the similar four-letter acronym and all. In reality, the title of the CBGB Music and Film Festival makes sense because few venues had as much impact on the history of music, or at least produced as many relevant bands as CBGB. Thanks largely to the music scene popularized at the club, the world now has acts ranging from The Ramones, Blondie, The Talking Heads, Television and Patti Smith. Although the club closed its doors during 2006, the famous name has returned as the title of a four-day arts festival showcasing hundreds of upcoming performers. -
