Many performers have problems with vendors selling bootleg T-shirts and paraphernalia outside of their concerts but few have gone as far as Eric Church, who has filed a federal lawsuit in an attempt to prevent unlicensed retailers from going about their business outside his shows. -
George Strait Debuting New Music at ACM Awards; Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and More Also Performing
George Strait may have travelled off the touring horizon with his "The Cowboy Rides Away" farewell concert at AT&T Stadium in Dallas last year but that doesn't mean he's done with performing, or even new music. In fact, the Academy of Country Music confirmed that the icon would be playing just that, new music, when he appears at the ACM Awards on April 19. Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton and Keith Urban will also be performing that night. -

Pharrell Williams referred to the Marvin Gaye estate as greedy many months ago when referring to the family's lawsuit against himself and Robin Thicke over the similarities between their hit "Blurred Lines" and the soul icon's "Got To Give It Up." Obviously a jury didn't agree with him, dropping a $7.3 million decision against the songwriting duo this week. Williams' statements might seem to air more on the side of truth now that one of Gaye's daughters has hinted that the no. 1 song of 2014, "Happy," might also sound a bit like the vocalist's "Ain't That Peculiar." -

Jazz vocalist Al Jarreau celebrates his 75th birthday today, not letting age get to him as he performs at events such as the forthcoming International Jazz Day celebration being staged by UNESCO in Paris. Jarreau is one of those greats who has stood the test of time yet doesn't get nearly enough attention because he rose to prominence just after the genre started to lose its popularity. Herbie Hancock released Head Hunters, the second best-selling jazz album of all time, in 1973, while Jarreau didn't release his first solo LP until 1975 with We Got By (despite having been working in music since the early '60s). Kelly Clarkson found a bit more breathing room on the Official Albums Chart this week, as her new album 'Piece By Piece' gets a nicer cushion over the 'Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack' on the Billboard 200. Thanks to the removal of individual streams and downloads for Beyoncé and Ellie Goulding's singles from the latter, Clarkson won the pure albums race with 80,500 copies sold, compared to 57,000 copies of 'Fifty Shades.' -

Cash Money Seeks Extension on Response to Turk's Lawsuit; Jas Prince and Lil Wayne Legal Challenges Lurk
Music Times has reported in the last few weeks regarding lawsuits against Cash Money Records from former Hot Boys member Turk, Drake's discoverer Jas Prince and of course, Lil Wayne and his massive $51 million bid to separate from Bird Man's label. Right now Bryan "Baby" Williams is looking to hand the Turk case, seeking an extension to respond. The "due date" for response was Wednesday. -

The effort helped the pop star get even with Carrie Underwood for the title of most no. 1 albums by an American Idol alumni...the country star and Clarkson both have three to their names. Murder Conviction Brought for Killer of Wayne Mills, Influencer of Blake Shelton, Jamey Johnson and More Nashville Musicians
The man alleged of having murdered influential country performer Wayne Mills during a 2013 bar altercation in Nashville has been found guilty. According to Saving Country Music, the jury in the case deliberated for around two hours before finding Chris Ferrell, the owner of the bar where the incident occurred, guilty.
