    Dave Grohl's HBO series 'Sonic Highways' comes to a close tonight (Dec. 5) as the band makes its final stop in New York City. It is the eighth stop the band made while recording its eighth studio effort of the same name. Grohl and co. were joined by record producer Tony Visconti and singer Kristeen Young for the last track "I Am a River," which was recorded at The Magic Shop. The band will play a show tonight in NYC following a screening of the final episode at Irving Plaza

The website also claims that organizer Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice has standing offers of $8 million out to Led Zeppelin, The Talking Heads, The Smiths and the original Guns N' Roses to appear at the festival.

  • Black Friday Music Sales Numbers Down; Pentatonix 'That's Christmas to Me' Is Most Popular Holiday Release

    The music industry has taken a few hits over the past few years with physical CD sales continually decreasing. Merchants were hoping for a successful Black Friday, but they were met with disappointment. Album sales were down 15 percent from last year, Neilsen Music reports.On the positive side, online CD sales were up 16 percent while vinyl nearly doubled its numbers from last year thanks to Record Store Day's "Back to Black" promotion. Pentatonix was the clear Christmas winner, having sold 217,000 units of "That's Christmas to Me."Here is a breakdown of the numbers via "Billboard":Retailer CD sales: 7.28 million units — down from 8.6 million last yearOnline CD sales: More than 1 million units — up 16.5 percent from last yearVinyl LP sales: 259,000 units — up from 173,000 last year
  • U2's The Edge on Bono's Cycling Injuries: 'He Basically Can’t Move for the Next Couple of Months'

    Bono's injuries from a recent cycling accident were pretty bad. The U2 frontman had multiple surgeries after breaking some bones last month. That resulted in the band rescheduling their planned residency on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon," and Bono had to sit out on the World AIDS Day performance earlier this week. The Edge spoke with Los Angeles radio station KROQ to update fans about the singer's condition."He managed to come out of it with what you can only describe as injuries from a car crash, literally multiple fractures of bones in his elbow and his back," he said. "But he's doing OK. We're kind of lucky he was wearing a helmet, so he didn't actually break Central Park. He's made of tough stuff and he's bouncing back."U2 was originally scheduled to play the radio station's Almost Acoustic Christmas concert, but they had to back out after Bono's accident. The singer is "so upset" about that, Edge noted."He's been told by his doctors to stay put. He's back in Dublin right now and he basically can't move for the next couple of months," he added. "The poor guy, basically his left elbow was shattered, so a lot of the work was reconstructing the joints and putting in wires and plates. He actually showed us some X-rays a couple days later, it looked like a miniature Eiffel Tower."

Now, she is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the song, MTV News points out, so it is understandable to miss a few notes. She struggles a little bit with the beginning, but once the backup singers join in, everything is fine. This is not 1990s Carey, but this is not the '90s, either. Kudos to the singer for doing it live anyway. Haters gonna hate.

According to "Consequence of Sound," the tune hit No. 12 on the charts with 200,000 downloads and 2.1 million streams. The song was written by "HG" scribe Suzanne Collins and adapted for the screen by Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers.Lawrence described the experience of singing on set for David Letterman recently."I do not like singing in front of other people," she said. "It's like my biggest fear. I cried on set that day. That was awful."The actress, who portrays Katniss Everdeen in the franchise, talked about the roots of the problem.

    Meek Mill will be home for the holidays. The "Believe It" rapper is being sent home today, Dec. 2, after being sentenced to three to six months in jail for violating his probation in July. He will be out a month early, Fox Philadelphia reports, with his original release date set for Jan. 11.According to the news outlet, Mill, aka Robert Williams, will not be allowed to travel outside Philly until he completes community service and anger management courses.Although he was originally denied early parole, Mill completed three programs while locked up that helped his early release. The prison sentence stemmed from a 2009 drug and gun incident.

Cosby resigned from the university's board of trustees yesterday, Dec. 1.

Bono could not make the World AIDS Day performance due to a recent bicycle accident, but Springsteen and Coldplay's Chris Martin were quick to help. Kanye West and Carrie Underwood also performed.Had Springsteen decided to where some shades, he would have looked just like the Irish frontman. The Boss strolled out on stage during The Edge's shimmering guitar intro to "Where the Streets Have No Name" and looked supremely confident. Springsteen brought a little of that hardened, New-Jersey grit to the Joshua Tree hit.The band opted for another classic from the 1987 album with "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," which Springsteen dedicated to Bono. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler stopped by, and the whole event was hosted by Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, who has been in control of the show for the last few years. Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes and Lucy Hale all contributed songs.A few of the highlights from the show came in the form of duets between artists of the country persuasion and guests from other genres. Tyler and Paisley teamed up for a revved-up version of "Run, Run Rudolph" that showcased the country star's guitar chops. Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash shared a few memories with Loudwire recently about the slain guitarist, who died Dec. 8.
  • The Muppets Parody Naughty By Nature's 'Hip Hop Hooray,' Kermit the Frog Raps Like Treach in Video [WATCH]

    Sometimes the best musical moments are the ones that never actually happened. The Muppets never performed Naughty By Nature's 1993 anthem "Hip Hop Hooray," but thanks to Mylo the Cat's YouTube account, now they have ... sort of. The parody video features old footage from "The Muppet Show" and various Jim Henson movies where the scenes are manipulated to make it look like Kermit the Frog is rapping like Treach. Fozzie Bear also joins in on the fun.Beaker gives the introduction in the video below before Kermit and Fozzie start jamming in the car scene from 1979's "The Muppet Movie." The video is a ton of laughs for those who grew up during the 1990s when Naughty By Nature was huge and the Muppets were entering their third decade of entertaining.     Kanye West, Carrie Underwood and a special configuration of U2 will all be playing the A (RED) Thank You concert tonight, Dec. 1, for World AIDS Day. Bono's organization planned the event in Times Square, but because of his recent bike accident, the iconic frontman will have to sit this one out. Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay's Chris Martin will take turns fronting the Irish rock outfit, which will be billed as "U2 Minus 1." The festivities, presented by Bank of America, start at 7:30 p.m. and we have a live stream of the concert below.(RED) was founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver. The organization has raised more than $275 million since its inception for the fight against AIDS. According to (RED)'s website, the world is closer to raising its first AIDS-free generation with special treatments that prevent the disease from spreading from a mother to her child. Tonight's concert is to celebrate the work that has been done so far and promote the cause in order to eradicate the disease."This year is a World AIDS Day like no other," Bono said in a statement. "The world reached a tipping point in the fight against AIDS — more people were newly added to life-saving treatment than were newly infected with the virus."According to U2's website, Springsteen and Martin "graciously donated their time and talents to save the World AIDS Day event from cancellation."
