The week between Christmas and New Years Day is one of the biggest party weeks of the year. Most people are off of work, or those who do have to work, things are pretty relaxed and expectations aren't as high for productivity. In that type of environment, Pacha and RPM Presents have been throwing parties all week at the club and on Pier 94 and Pier 36 in New York City with the likes of Armin van Buuren, Kaskade, Disclosure and Martin Garrix all coming to town. Last night saw trance titan, Armin van Buuren, known to fans as the god of trance, in part because of his stature within the genre and because his birthday is on Dec. 25, take the stage at Pier 94 with A State Of Trance regulars Andrew Rayel, Mark Sixma and Jochen Miller. -

It is always a sad day when the last beat, chord and lyric is cried out at a legendary music venue before it shutters its doors. As reported by Dancing Astronaut, the send-off party Jan. 31 will fittingly feature Toronto native deadmau5. He has promised to leave the final hour of Guvernment to its longtime resident Matt Oliver, but until that point, the "Strobe" producer will command the last night for the Toronto venue. The venue has seen just about every big name in dance music, rock and pop come through its doors, and has been a staple of the Toronto dance music scene and nightlife and pivotal to Canadian electronic music. Resident Advisor Releases Top 100 DJs Poll; The Anti-DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll
When it comes to DJ polls, there are two very different opposite rankings for the top DJs in the world. The most controversial one, the DJ Mag Top 100, relies on fan voting to rank the top DJs in the world, which predictably has main stage heavyweights like Hardwell, Tiesto, Avicii, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix and others top the list. In a very different twist of events, Resident Advisor, a standard for underground dance music, has its own opinion on which the top DJs in the world are. German Steffan Berkhahn, label owner of Berlin based Innervisions Recordings and professionally known as Dixon, topped the poll for a second straight year, while others like Seth Troxler, Richie Hawtin, Tale Of Us and others trailed not far behind. -
