Coldplay Was The Perfect Super Bowl Performer, But Then 'A Head Full Of Dreams' Dropped
The announcement of Coldplay as the Super Bowl 50 Halftime performer drew the Twitter mockery of football and music fans alike, claiming the band is too boring for the event and will put everyone to sleep. Whoever is in charge of making the pick knew they were taking a gamble on Coldplay, but it's a pretty sound one given the group's success and massive popularity, it's just a shame that bet won't play out because the band's latest album is so mediocre. -

It's been five years since The Black Eyed Peas released its last album The Beginning, but ahead of its new album later this year, today (July 17), will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo reunited to release a new single and music video for the hip-hop tribute track "Yesterday." -
7 Longest Hip-Hop Streaks At No. 1: Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, Wiz Khalifa
Yesterday we learned that Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth had matched hip-hop history by topping the Hot 100 for a 12th week with "See You Again," the pair's smash from the Furious 7 soundtrack. The genre has come a long way since Blondie landed the first rap atop the Hot 100 during 1980 (yeah, Blondie) but still: Only seven hip-hop songs have managed to spend at least 10 weeks on top of arguably the biggest chart in music. Join us as we count up from fewest weeks to most weeks at no. 1, and check back next Wednesday to see if Khalifa and co. manage to take history a step further. -
Why Wiz Khalifa and 'See You Again' Won't Break Hot 100 Hip-Hop Record
Wiz Khalifa (and Charlie Puth) stand on the brink of history, having tied the streak for the longest period for any hip-hop song atop the Billboard Hot 100 with "See You Again," the showcase number from the Furious 7 soundtrack. Unfortunately, the likelihood that they break that record upon the release of next week's numbers. -
Flo Rida, Gwen Stefani, Black Eyed Peas and More: Digital Download Landmarks
Five years ago today, the Black Eyed Peas' single "I Gotta Feeling" were confirmed by Nielsen Soundscan as the bestselling song in the history of digital downloads, having become the first song in history to pass the 6 million-download mark. In the five years since, the track has continued to become the first song to break both the 7 million and 8 million-download mark as well, maintaining its role as the most downloaded song ever. It got us thinking however: What songs were the first to pass the respective million marks? Flo Rida, Gwen Stefani and more pitch in to history. -
Black Eyed Peas Reunite at Coachella with David Guetta To Perform Collab 'Awesome'
If you can believe it, the Black Eyed Peas have been getting phunky for 20 years. Ever since their formation in 1995, the group were one of the most influential pop acts of the 2000s, with singles like "Let's Get It Started," "My Humps," "Boom Boom Pow" and their collaboration with David Guetta "I Gotta Feeling" that was a catalyst for the EDM explosion in the United States today. Since their 2010 album The Beginning, which spawned singles like "The Time (Dirty Bit)" and "Just Can't Get Enough," the group has gone their separate ways and taken a break. However sings pointed a reunion for their 20th year anniversary and last night at Coachella, during David Guetta's set, the group came out to perform their new collaboration together titled "Awesome." -
10 Super Bowl Halftime Show Stages: Ranking the Platforms of Madonna, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and More
The Super Bowl Halftime Show often benefits from a great performance onstage. Sometimes. But knowing the much of the audio is prerecorded kind of takes some of the fun out of it. That's why more often than not our final verdict on the big game's big entertainment (especially in recent years) had revolved more around the stage-show than the music itself. Nothing is more important to a stage-show than a stage. Music Times went back and checked out the last ten Super Bowl performers and more importantly, what they were playing on, and ranked them accordingly (including Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Madonna and more). This isn't a ranking of the performances, but of the platform that held it. -
will.i.am: Black Eyed Peas Releasing New Music in 2015 for 20th Anniversary

Song Questions with Song Answers: Rod Stewart and Shakira, Lil Jon and Hall & Oates, and More
Acts like One Direction and Taylor Swift have created armies of super-creepy, devoted fans. We're not talking about the typical Directioner...we're talking about the stalkers and X-rated fan fiction writers. Fortunately this isn't the '60s, where fans could apparently infiltrate the music industry and send messages to their idols. The best example is Elvis Presley, specifically his hit "Are You Lonely Tonight?," which according to Billboard generated at least four songs titled "Yes, I'm Lonely Tonight" and one "Oh, How I Miss You Tonight" as "answers" to his question. Odds are these songs were more about profits than untamed hormones, but we love the idea of response tracks. -
The Longest Streaks in Hot 100 History: Featuring Plenty of Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey and Black Eyed Peas
On this date during 1994, Boyz II Men stuck around for a 14th week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with its hit "I'll Make Love To You." That tally left it in a tie with Whitney Houston and "I Will Always Love You" for the most weeks on top of the Hot 100. As album sales have grown less important to the industry and single sales have become more relevant, that record has since changed hands. Check out the Top 13 songs in terms of weeks at no. 1 (mind you, there are quite a few ties...we ranked ties according to age of the song, not by how much we personally enjoyed it). -
