Super Bowl National Anthem: Blake Shelton Rumored to Be Pre-Game Singer
The final piece of the Super Bowl music puzzle — Who will sing the national anthem? — has yet to be solved, but a recent report from "Hollywood Life" indicates that country star and "The Voice" judge Blake Shelton will do the honors."The Super Bowl organizers are looking to mix it up a little bit for the person to do the national anthem," a source told "HL." "They want a guy and they have asked Blake Shelton."Apparently, Blake has not been answering his phone, though."He hasn't responded to it yet but they are anticipating a yes and they want to make the announcement during an upcoming playoff game," the source said. "So they are looking to lock the performer in by the end of the week. But Blake is on the top of the list."If Blake is officially announced as the singer, he will join a cast of music stars already in place for the big game.Katy Perry will perform at the Pepsi Super Bowl XLIX halftime show at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona Feb. 1, 2014. Saturday Night Live will return from its holiday break and come into 2015 in a big way with musical guests. After booking acts like Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande, One Direction and Nicki Minaj for the first half of season 40, today (Jan. 6), the NBC sketch show announced its next round of musical guests, including one set to pull double duty. -
Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert to Headline Big Barrel Country Music Festival [FULL LINEUP]
The good people at Red Frog Events, who put on the Firefly Festival every year, are getting a little country in 2015. The company announced the Big Barrel Country Music Festival today, Dec. 18, which will be held at Firefly's site, Dover International Speedway in Delaware. Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert will headline the event scheduled for June 26 to 28 — the weekend after Firefly. Tickets go on sale today, "Billboard" notes.For a three-day pass ($99), concert-goers will be able to see a mix of popular country artists and acts on the fringes of the genre, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sturgill Simpson and Hurray for the Riff Raff. The coaches from NBC's hit show The Voice gathered in West Hollywood last night (Dec. 8) to put on a special show for fans. Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams all got onstage to perform some of their own songs. Adam Levine used his stage time to share a version of one of his favorite songs, "Ignition (Remix)" by R. Kelly. Needless to say, the crowd was into it. -
Jason Aldean Joins Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande on 2014's Platinum-Selling Albums List with 'Old Boots, New Dirt'
Jason Aldean has bragging rights in the country community for 2014. His newest effort, "Old Boots, New Dirt," is the only album from the genre to be certified as platinum. Other artists to reach the million sales mark this year were Taylor Swift with "1989" and Ariana Grande with "My Everything." The soundtrack from Disney's "Frozen" also went platinum. -

It's hard to believe, but season seven of The Voice is starting to wind down. Last week, the top 10 gave some of the worst performances of the season. So, if these kids want to seem worthy of the top five or, god forbid, even winning this show, they needed to show up. Luckily for them, they did. From the best of the best (Matt McAndrew, Craig Wayne Boyd) to those who are just somehow holding on (Ryan Sill, Luke Wade), everyone was better than usual, making this show feel truly legitimate. -

Jimmy Fallon's 'Lip Sync Battle' to Get Spin-Off Show on Spike TV: Premiere Date Set for April
One of Jimmy Fallon's most popular "Late Night" and "Tonight Show" games, Lip Sync Battle, is getting its own TV show. Spike TV will be the network home for "Lip Sync Battle," slated for an April premiere. According to "Rolling Stone," actors Stephen Merchant and John Krasinski, both of whom have played the game with Fallon, created the concept with Emily Blunt.If you missed the lip-sync battles with Fallon, then let's recap. Krasinski competed against the host on Late Night, performing a hilarious rendition of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." Fallon then invited Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Merchant for a bout as well. That epic battle saw Merchant taking on "Boom! Shake the Room" by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and Gordon-Levitt mouthing "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John.Paul Rudd helped bring the game to "The Tonight Show," performing Tina Turner's "You Better Be Good to Me" and Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now." Emma Stone tore through Blues Traveler's "Hook" and DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win," and Fallon most recently took on The Voice judges Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Like most of Fallon's games, it is a pleasure to watch. -
