The "Hot N*gga" rapper is being held along with fellow emcee Rowdy Rebel and four other accused for an 101-count indictment. Schmurda himself stood before a Manhattan Supreme Court judge on June 25. -

Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, still languishes in jail awaiting trial for a litany of charges relating to his connection to the GS9 crew and their alleged crimes. The "Hot Ni*ga" rapper has still remained active with the media, calling into radio stations with his limited phone calls, remaining steadfast in his belief that he is innocent on all accounts. A lot has happened in the two months since Bobby Shmurda (born Ackquille Pollard) was arrested outside of Quad Studios in New York City. He has been indicted on a variety of charges, changed lawyers, plead not guilty in court, and had his bail withdrawn. His defense lawyer Kenneth J. Montgomery has called the charges "trumped up," saying it all ultimately comes down to a "constructive possession gun case" that is being overblown. For now, Pollard sits in jail, unable to come up with the $2 million bail. In a new interview with The New York Times, Pollard expresses his frustration with his label for not supporting him and claims that his violent lyrics were fabricated to sell records. -

Bobby Shmurda's Lawyer Gives Update On Bail Application As Rapper Remains Behind Bars
Just when Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda's career seemed to be taking off, he and his GS9 crew were arrested outside of Quad Studios in New York City last December. They were later indicted on a variety of charges, including conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, and more. They now face a number of years in prison. Last month, Shmurda and his crew all plead not guilty in a Manhattan Supreme Court. Following the proceedings, Shmurda posted bail, but it was later withdrawn. For now, the rapper remains in jail, where he has been since his arrest. His only public appearances have been court appearances regarding indictments and bail applications. Complex caught up with Shmurda's lawyer Kenneth J. Montgomery to talk about the current status of the case.
