• Liz Phair, Jon Spencer, Yo La Tengo Star in Spoof TV Show ‘What’s Up Matador’ [WATCH]

    Matador Records has shared the spoof kids' TV show, What's Up Matador, that accompanied the 1997 double CD/LP compilation of the same title. While the audio component of the bundle--which featured cuts from Spoon, Pavement, Cat Power, Superchunk and Guided By Voices among others--has garnered a cult status among collectors, the Bill Boggs-hosted infomercial-esque show featuring cameos from Liz Phair, Jon Spencer and Yo La Tengo members among others has only made it's way to the internet now.     Left Coast indie label Burger Records announced the line up for their second annual all-female-fronted music festival Burger-A-Go-Go earlier this week. Scheduled for September 5th, the now annual event is set to take place at Santa Anna Observatory, featuring well-loved acts like Bleached, Cults and riot grrrl legend Kathleen Hanna's The Julie Ruin.

  • Cat Power, Stars, And More To Play New York's Modern Sky Festival

    The line-up for the very first Modern Sky Festival in New York City has been announced through the festival's website. Headliners include Cat Power, Liars, Stars, the Both (Aimee Mann and Ted Leo), and the Blood Brothers, who have reunited this year after splitting back in 2007. Some of the festival's other acts include a special tribute to Nigerian funk musician William Onyeabor featuring as of yet unannounced special guests, as well as a number of rock and electronic artists from China to fill out the rest of the line-up. The festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5 at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.
