It's still cold out there for new music releases after the first full week of album sales during 2015, so it's not surprise that Taylor Swift was still on top of the Billboard 200 when today's numbers came out. It's the eighth week of ten that 1989 has been available where the record ended up on top, which makes it her second most-decorated album yet (Fearless spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at no. 1 during 2008-'09). It moved 244,000 equivalent albums last week. -
J. Cole Will Appear On Wale's 'The Album About Nothing' Following '2014 Forest Hills Drive'
Washington DC rapper Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, better known as Wale, has been a very busy man lately. He just released a new mixtape, Festivus, based on the strong affinity and connection he has with the 1990s sitcom Seinfeld and is gearing up for the album follow up The Album About Nothing to his 2008 mixtape, The Mixtape About Nothing. He recently sat down with HotNewHipHop to discuss the album and confirmed the rumors that 2014 Forest Hills Drive rapper, J Cole would in fact be featured on the full length LP. -
2014's Top Sellers Exclude Hip Hop Entirely
While it is not a huge surprise to learn that, overall, 2014 was not the most fruitful year in terms of album sales, with a decline of 11 percent from 2013, it is unfortunate that the genre of hip hop did not see any love whatsoever in the top 10 best-selling album list. -
Jeremih Featured In Maejor's "Get You Alone" Music Video [WATCH]
Detroit R&B singer, Maejor, has shared the music video for his new single, "Get You Alone" featuring Jeremih, which you can check out here. The video is pretty straightforward with Maejor singing the song near a hot tub while girls in bikinis smear glow in the dark paint over his body. Jeremih makes an appearance in the song's second half (it actually comes off like a completely different song entirely, which is pretty cool), singing/rapping about being "a fat kid for that fat ass," so you know this guy's a sweetheart. -
Taylor Swift No. 2 All Time for Weeks at No. 1 with '1989'; No New Albums to Interrupt Nicki Minaj, Pentatonix and One Direction Post-Christmas
Another week and another run at history by Taylor Swift: Her album 1989 managed to top the Billboard 200 for the seventh time during its nine weeks on the charts, selling 326,000 full copies and generating 430 multi-metric equivalent albums (MME's). Rich Homie Quan, Yo Gotti Appear on SBOE's 'Better Than Them' with Boosie Badazz [LISTEN]
Queens hip-hop group SBOE — Slow Bucks Over Everything — have shared a new track titled "Better Than Them," featuring guest appearances by Rich Homie Quan, Yo Gotti and Boosie Badazz, which you can check out below. According to "Hot New Hip-Hop," this track originally appeared earlier this year on an SBOE mixtape, only without the guest spots from Quan, Gotti and Boosie, so this seems like a deliberate attempt to turn this into a hit. The hook is decent enough, so it might actually work — though the "Scarface" sample at the beginning is almost laughably clichéd at this point in the history of hip-hop.You can check out SBOE's "Better Than Them" featuring Rich Homie Quan, Yo Gotti and Boosie Badazz here:Here is SBOE's original version of "Better Than Them," just in case you were curious: -
