Today (Aug. 27), Macklemore is leading up to the release of his new album with the funky fresh new single "Downtown."

    Has your mother ever commented how much she enjoys the chorus to "See You Again" or "Monster," but that she really wishes Wiz Khalifa and Eminem (respectively) hadn't "ruined" the song with their raps? She's not the first. This week we found out that a revised version of the former song, featuring only Charlie Puth's hook, as well as new melodic verses in place of Khalifa's bars, has been on the rise at Adult Contemporary radio...occasionally known as "Adult Conservative." The only thing less likely to end up on AC than hip-hop is heavy metal, but as rappers frequently find themselves invited to guest on pop singles (such as Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar), labels sometimes edit the "offending" portion out, resulting in a safer, frequently less exciting product.

So far so good: Seattle is facing New England, as we predicted, but will the Seahawks triumph? Who knows? Not Spotify. The music streaming service did use its numbers-tracking technology to create two playlists of songs representing the performers that listeners in the respective regions listen in far greater numbers than their foes on the opposite coast.

    Heading into its 13th year, Sasquatch! Music Festival has announced the 2015 dates for the Memorial Day festival. Taking place over four days, the festival will now plant its flag again in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Gorge Amphitheatre between May 22nd and May 25th. Early bird passes for the festival will go on sale this Friday at 9 a.m. PST.
  • MTV To Air New Documentary Series Featuring Demi Lovato & Snoop Dogg

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV has set forth plans to create an hour-long documentary series titled The Ride that it will spread across its international networks. The network originally did this back in June when it aired in the UK and centered on the career of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The series will pick up again overseas in October.
