• Neil Young's Pono Project Opens Up to Small-Time Investors via Crowdfunder

Neil Young's Pono project seemed to tear up Kickstarter when it launched a funding campaign back in April and the songwriter looks to be taking advantage of his product's current popularity. His company has launched another campaign, this one via Crowdfunder, to give more dedicated fans the opportunity to formally invest in PonoMusic for as "low" as $5,000.
  • Neil Young Wants You To Love Cotton Like He Loves Cotton

On Friday, classic rock superhero Neil Young posted a lengthy message on his website about cotton. One of my favorite genres of music is lo-fi, or "low-fidelity," meaning artists who record their songs onto cheap equipment. Though most lo-fi artists are DIY musicians who work outside of the mainstream and use cheap equipment out of necessity, there are still some highly successful rock stars that have chosen to go lo-fi for aesthetic reasons, or simply out of convenience. Farm Aid will be traveling to Raleigh, NC to the Walnut Creek Amphitheater and you can probably guess a handful of the headliners right off the bat: Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp. Those four are members of the Farm Aid board so they traditionally make appearances at the yearly festival, but there are some big names outside of the board that will show up as well. Jack White for one.
  • 8 Studio Albums That Feature A Live Track: Neil Young, Johnny Cash, And More

One of the primary objectives for a record producer is to make sure all of the songs on an album sound sonically consistent, but some artists choose to do away with this consistency by incorporating a live recording into the otherwise studio recorded album. Here are eight studio albums that feature a live track.
  • Neil Young Cancels Concert In Tel Aviv

Pitchfork reports that Neil Young & Crazy Horse have been forced to cancel their July 17 show at Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv, Israel. According to The Jerusalem Post, the show's promoter Shuki Weiss revealed in a press release that, "The cancellation is due to the barrage of rockets that have been fired in recent days and concern for the safety of an audience for such an event."
