Bill Cosby may have issued a statement earlier this week reassuring his remaining fans that his career is far from over, but ultimately, his ability to continue working is in the hands of other people and that is a real problem. If just one or two women had made allegations against the comedic legend, then he likely would be given the benefit of the doubt, but with more than 15 women coming forward, Cosby is going to have to have a real uphill battle. -
Bill Cosby and His Team of Investigators Already Taking Aim at Chloe Goins for Speaking with the LAPD
After learning that Chloe Goins filed criminal charges against him with the LAPD, of course Bill Cosby's team has come out swinging. The young model's attorney requested that investigators get a search warrant for The Playboy Mansion, where the incident allegedly happened. They claim that surveillance tapes may provide solid proof to bolster Goins's claims. Now Cosby's team is pushing for the same footage. The comedian actually used to be friends with Hugh Hefner, and he is hoping that the head of the Playboy empire will give him evidence that might prevent any kind of criminal charges from being filed. According to a report by TMZ, Cosby's team is looking for surveillance footage and the names of employees who worked on the 2008 night in question. What is more than a little interesting is the fact that Cosby has also expressed concern about whether or not any former Playmates might have made similar claims against him. If Hefner knows of any, then you better believe Cosby's team wants to get to them before they come forward on their own. While fighting back a continuous onslaught of rumors and allegations, Cosby's business continues to tank. -
Chloe Goins Met With LAPD to Pursue Criminal Charges Against Bill Cosby, Surveillance Tape May Show Sexual Assault
Will Chloe Goins ultimately prove to be the catalyst to completely unraveling Bill Cosby's insistence that he's an innocent man? Well, what we do know for sure is that the model met with L.A. investigators for two hours today to look into pursuing criminal charges in connection with an encounter that she claims to have with the famed comedian back in 2008 when she was only 18. -
Did Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Give the Allegations Against Bill Cosby Credibility by Mentioning Them at the Golden Globes?
Bill Cosby has spent the better part of the last two months fighting to salvage his career after numerous women have come out of the woodwork to accuse him of sexual impropriety. He has not taken direct aim often. Instead, he has hired a team of investigators to find skeletons in his accusers's closets and used his minimal time onstage to take a verbal sideways shot, but all the while Cosby seems to have thought that, eventually, it will all go away. The fact that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey fired shots at Cosby during the Golden Globes may have had a bigger impact than anyone would have imagined.TMZ caught up with Michelle Hurd, an actress from "Law & Order" who is also a Cosby accuser. She found it ironic that a steady stream of women making similar allegations about being drugged and then assaulted have at times found themselves under the media's microscope, but once two respected fellow comediennes took aim at the man who once might have been sort of their idol, things look different.Fey and Poehler roasted Cosby out in the open and in front of an international audience. There was no hesitation in their words, and by the time they finished there seemed to be little doubt of how Hollywood as a whole is now viewing Cosby. It was also a bit ironic that these direct shots were fired at Cosby in prime time and on NBC, the network that he once helped to propel to the No. 1 position with "The Cosby Show." -
Bill Cosby Gets Standing Ovation and Protests at Canadian Show
Bill Cosby claims to have had a "wonderful time" performing in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, last night, Jan. 7. It was his first stand-up gig since last November, when detailed allegations of sexual assault first appeared again in the press. It is not the first time Cosby has been accused, but the allegations are really sticking this time around. Last night's performance was met with cheers as well as several protesters. When Cosby took the stage at the Center in the Square theater, about a third of the seats were empty in what would normally have been a sell-out crowd. While an announcer warned that there could be disruptions, there was not a single heckler in sight. The audience was polite and Cosby ended with a partial standing ovation. He also thanked the crowd for showing up and supporting him. While, all things considered, this show was a success, it is nothing compared to the kind of showing the comedian usually gets for one of his stand-up gigs. This show, as well as two others in Ontario, were booked before the scandal began, and when Cosby did not back out and cancel the dates, the venues were not going to risk doing it and being sued for breech of contract. What remains to be seen is whether or not Cosby will be able to book any new shows for this year. Several dates have already been canceled in the U.S. and we are not hearing any new ones being added to his schedule as of yet. -
Phylicia Rashad Claims Accusations Against Bill Cosby Are 'Orchestrated' to Destroy His Legacy
Bill Cosby's reputation and legacy has completely nosedived in under two months thanks to a string of allegations by several different women. Is Cosby really capable of drugging and sexually assaulting women on a regular basis? Could this many people who have never met be telling the same lie? That is what the comedian's legal team is trying to convince us of. It seems the public has hung on the words of those affiliated with Cosby and input from those who worked with him on the set of "The Cosby Show" seems invaluable. Finally, Phylicia Rashad is speaking up.Rashad was Cosby's television wife for years, and after staying quiet for several weeks, she finally spoke exclusively with Showbiz 411 yesterday, and she staunchly defended her friend."Rashad, who is one of our greatest stage actresses, has kept quiet, didn't seek me out and even said, 'I don't want to become part of the public debate.' But knowing this she did say to me, 'I love him' about Bill Cosby. She stands defiantly behind him. She told me that in the years she's known him, she has never seen the behavior alleged by the women who say they were drugged and raped, or sexually harassed," wrote Roger Friedman."Forget these women," Rashad said. "What you're seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it's orchestrated. I don't know why or who's doing it, but it's the legacy. And it's a legacy that is so important to the culture."Rashad dismisses claims from Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson."Oh, please," she said when their names came up.She is also quick to defend Camille Cosby."This is a tough woman, a smart woman," she told me. "She's no pushover." -
Front Porch Step Tour Suspended After Sexual Assault Allegations
Jake McElfresh — aka Front Porch Step — has faced serious heat in recent days after several sexual assault allegations cropped up against him on social media. The singer is charged with, among other things, sending lewd photos to underage girls. With these accusations at the forefront of the rock news cycle, McElfresh is suspending the rest of his current tour."I am taking the appropriate time to assess these very serious allegations against me and I am not taking them lightly," he said, via AltPress. "Until I can do that in a complete manner with all the information I have at my disposal, I will not be continuing with any current touring activities for the time being."Recent tour partners Have Mercy and future tour partner Allison Weiss had already backed out of any forthcoming shows."We, Have Mercy, in no way condone the alleged actions that have come to light over the past week, and hope that message above all is clear to our fans," the band said. "Safety in music, and life, should never be risked for selfish decisions. We were incredibly excited at the opportunity to hit the road this spring, and that is still our top priority."There has also been a petition to boot Front Porch Step out of this year's Warped Tour lineup. McElfresh, who began recording as FPS in 2012, dropped his debut album "Aware" in fall 2013 and recently followed that up with the "Whole Again" EP in December. -
Bill Cosby to Play Three Shows This Week in Canada in Spite of Mixed Reactions
While Bill Cosby may be having a hard time keeping his career going in the states right now, he will be doing a few of his stand up shows in Canada later this week. Many U.S. venues have either canceled shows that they had previously booked with the fallen star or else he has scrapped some scheduled gigs at the last minute. The end result has been the same, ever since women started to come forward and accuse Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them, he hasn't been very marketable. -
Bill Cosby Has Hired Investigators to Dig Up Dirt on His Many Accusers
After everything that we have heard about Bill Cosby's true character in recent weeks, it is surprising he has not gone after his multitude of accusers from the start. He may have held back from doing so in the beginning while hoping that all the accusations would somehow just disappear and be discredited on their own. Since the exact opposite has happened, Cosby is now out for proverbial blood.According to a report by Page Six, Cosby has hired a West Coast-based team of private investigators to dig up any dirt that exists on his accusers. In one meeting with the team, Cosby reportedly said, "If you're going to say to the world that I did this to you, then the world needs to know what kind of person are you? Who is this person that's saying it? You can't say that I put something in your coffee, threw you in a cab and then you go on and live a high-profile life, a famous life and you never complain."That, quite obviously, is in reference to Beverly Johnson's account of being drugged by the actor while auditioning for his sitcom back in the 1980s. -
Bill Cosby Sued for Alleged Sexual Assault on 15-Year-Old Girl
Just when you thought it could not get any worse for fallen comedian Bill Cosby, it has. He is now being sued by a woman named Judy Huth, who is 55. She is alleging that back in 1974 Cosby molested her when she was only 15. While most cases that involve Cosby are impossible to legally prosecute in any way because of the statute of limitations having expired, this one is apparently different.According to TMZ, Huth filed her suit in Los Angeles County Court, saying that she and a friend met Cosby in a park where he was filming a movie. He befriended the girls and invited them to a party at the Playboy Mansion, instructing them to lie about their ages if anyone asked. Huth alleges that Cosby played pool and made her drink a beer every time he won a game. He then guided her toward a bathroom that was off a bedroom, and when she came out Cosby asked her to sit beside him. Huth alleges that after doing so, the actor molested her. -
NBC Puts the Brakes on New Bill Cosby Comedy Series After Netflix Shelves Special That Was Scheduled to Begin Streaming Next Week
It has been a devastating day for business in the life of comedic legend Bill Cosby. In the last several days he has watched as several old rape claims against him have been met in the media by a new rash of claims from women who have now gone on the record to tell their own alleged personal accounts of suffering at his hands. At first, Cosby's attorney simply denied that his client had done anything wrong and then insisted these old claims were baseless. But by late last night things shifted when the self-proclaimed world's first supermodel, Janice Dickinson, said Cosby had raped her back in 1982. Cosby's attorney came out swinging, but it was too late to save two new projects he has been working on.First, Netflix announced that it is shelving a special show Cosby had already filmed for it. It was scheduled to begin streaming next week and it is now on hold. If Cosby somehow pulls out of this scandal with his career at all intact, then there is a chance Netflix will show his special. Unfortunately, that is not going to be the case for Cosby's other deal.NBC was working on a new Cosby project that would have been executive produced by "The Cosby Show's" Tom Werner. In it, Cosby was supposed to star as Jonathan Franklin, head of a multigenerational family, who would use his humor and life experience to guide his daughters, sons-in-law and grandkids. It kind of sounded like an updated spin on the formula that worked so well 25 years ago. Unfortunately, it will never see the light of day because NBC has killed it completely. -
Jesse Matthew Indicted for Attempted Murder in 2005 Sexual Assault While Investigators Wait for Forensic Results in Hannah Graham Case
Jesse Matthew, the suspect directly linked to the Hannah Graham case, may not be talking but that is not stopping investigators from putting together a series of cases against him. On Saturday, remains were found in a rural area near where Matthew once lived and, while authorities are waiting for forensic testing to come back so they can make a positive identification, they believe it was Graham's body that was recovered. While working on the missing UVA student's case, police have been able to link Matthew with several other crimes against various women, and on Monday, Oct. 20, Matthew was indicted on an attempted murder charge in a 2005 sexual assault.
