• The War on Drugs Frontman Adam Granduciel Discusses Sun Kil Moon Feud, New Music

One of the strangest and funniest music feuds in recent memory was the -- mostly -- one-sided battle between Sun Kil Moon and The War on Drugs from last year, throughout which War on Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel tried his best to take the high road and remain silent about the whole thing. Now, in a new interview with "Uncut," Granduciel has opened up a bit more about the feud, telling Sun Kil Moon frontman Mark Kozelek to "get over" himself and suggesting that Kozelek was perhaps "playing this part" instead of being genuinely outraged.
  • Mark Kozelek 'Halfway' Through New Sun Kil Moon Album, Predicts Fall 2015 Release

Mark Kozelek -- aka Sun Kil Moon -- had one of the busiest years of anybody in 2014, and he is already planning on giving fans a new album in 2015. In between pot shots at The War on Drugs, Kozelek promoted his critically acclaimed "Benji" -- released last February -- and began writing material for a new LP, which he predicts will have a fall 2015 release. "Luckily, I'm working on a new album now and hopefully that could be out by fall," Kozelek recently told "The Omaha World-Herald," via Stereogum, adding that he is "halfway" finished with it.

  • 10 Artists Who Paid Tribute To Their Parents In Their Music: Green Day, Pink Floyd, And More

Today, indie folk singer Sufjan Stevens announced the release of a new album Carrie & Lowell, which is named after his mother and stepfather and features a photograph of the two on the front cover. After all that rock music has done to encourage people to disobey their parents, it's honestly refreshing to see Stevens pay tribute to his parents this way, but he's far from the only rock artist who has done this. Here are 10 artists who have paid tribute to their parents in their music, either with one song or with entire albums.
  • Music Times 10 Best Albums of 2014; St. Vincent, The War on Drugs, Jack White & More...Who Takes No. 1?

Glares were exchanged. Words were said that can't be taken back. Punches weren't quite thrown, although two Music Times editors (that won't be named) did engage in a karate chop battle reminiscent of the Clark Griswold vs. Plastic Lawn Reindeer battle of '91. When all was said and done however, the staff had managed to narrow a list of 943 albums down to a mere 10. Old standards like Jack White and Beck proved that their status within the music community was intact, and newer, much buzzed about acts including Sturgill Simpson proved themselves worthy of consideration during the previous 12 months.
  • Music Times 25 Best Songs of 2014: Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Hozier, St. Vincent & More

2014 was the year of a thousand controversies: Taylor Swift pulled all of her music from Spotify, Sun Kil Moon started a feud with The War On Drugs, Jack White accused The Black Keys of ripping him off (again), and almost nobody went platinum. Here are the 25 best songs from 2014, as determined by Music Times writers Ryan Book, Caitlin Carter, Joey DeGroot, Kyle Dowling, and Carolyn Menyes.
