Following the release of her new music video for "Blow," Dawn Richard returns with more new music from her forthcoming album Blackheart. The former Danity Kane singer wants to get "Physical" with her third single.
As noted by Rap-Up, the album cut is very '80s electro-esque. Richard sings about letting loose over the galloping beat.
"Let's be careless and vibe, yeah/Let's get physical," Richard coos.
Blackheart, the second album in Dawn's Heart trilogy, is slated to be released on January 15 and features production from Noisecastle III. Last month, she also released her second single "Professional."
Richard discussed her forthcoming album during an interview with Billboard. Blackheart will be released exactly two years after she dropped her debut LP Goldenheart.
"Lyrically and storytelling-wise, it is in the same fashion of Goldenheart," she said. "But I wanted each album to stand on its own, and have a cohesive story. The story in itself is about my journey throughout the music industry, and the love, the hate, the redemption and the whole thing in between."
Back in October, Dawn Richard's former bandmates Shannon Bex and Aubrey O'Day released the group's farewell album after a split following a physical altercation in a recording studio.
The group announced their breakup in a lengthy open letter. In part they wrote, "During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate. To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me. This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident. I cannot condone or excuse any form of physical violence, particularly at the hands of someone I considered family. Disagreements happen. But a war of words and ideas should never end in physical aggression."
