Slipknot's new mystery member just received a nickname from the band's fans.
The Corey Taylor-fronted band has been following its tradition of hiding members' identities since the 1990s when the original lineup only unmasked themselves to the public a few years after their debut. They continue to do so whenever they welcome new members, including the time Alessandro "V-Man" Venturella and Jay Weinberg joined them in 2014.
After Craig Jones' departure from the band, Slipknot immediately presented a new mystery and masked man who is said to be the former keyboardist's replacement.
Slipknot's New Member Nickname
On Reddit, Slipknot fans officially gave the mystery member a nickname: Greg Bones.
The post, titled "the new guy needs a nickname," started after a Reddit username asked fans to "do the same" to the new member after calling Michael Pfaff "Tortilla Man." Among the choices include The Gimp, Leatherface, Hoodie Guy, and Zipper Dude, which they based on the new member's first photo posted on Slipknot's Instagram page.
Greg Bones dominated the thread, and some fans noted that it would be perfect though it sounds like Craig Jones' name.
Aside from giving the new member a nickname, they also played with the members' real names and suggested using them instead. Some of the hilarious comments are, "Way Jeinberg," "Vlessandro Aenturella," "Jraig Cones," "Chawn Srahan," and "Pichael Mtaff."
Who Is Slipknot's New Member?
Though the mystery member's identity has not been confirmed yet, fans seemingly received a new hint in a now-deleted Instagram story of Pfaff. He took a selfie backstage, and members have designations in their respective sections.
Revolver Magazine shared the names captured in Pfaff's Story, including "Corey" for Corey Taylor, "Mick" for Mick Thompson, and "Sid" for Sid Wilson.

One name, "Zac," took fans' attention as there is no Zac in Slipknot's lineup - unless it is a hint regarding the new member's identity. This led fans to assume that Korn and Ghost's keyboardist, Zac Baird, might be the new member.
Even before the photo was posted, Slipknot fans included him in their theories, though the band has not commented on it yet.
