• Mariah and Nick, French and Khloe, Calvin and Rita: 2014's Biggest Musician Breakups

It's official: Ariana Grande and Big Sean have split as a result of their mutually busy schedules, touring and supporting new albums My Everything and Dark Sky Paradise. The pair had only been dating for eight months but they were one of America's favorite celebrity couples during that span. We're just glad that, for the time being, things seem to be friendly and we hope there won't be another "I Don't F*ck With You" in the future (Sean wrote that about ex Naya Rivera). Music Times is going back to 2014 and ranking the year's biggest musician splits—from Mariah Carey to Katy Perry and Khloe Kardashian—in terms of how heavily it impacted tabloid and media coverage.
  • Alice Glass Responds To Crystal Castles' Ethan Kath Underhanded Remarks

Last October, news broke that Alice Glass had left the experimental electronic duo, Crystal Castles, leaving many fans to wonder if they were done for good. On Friday, Ethan Kath, the producer and remaining member released a new song under the guise of Crystal Castles on soundcloud titled "Frail" that got fans excited not only because it was new music, but also it confirmed that there was a future for the band. He stirred up controversy with a now deleted comment that undermined the contribution of Glass over her time as a member in Crystal Castles. Not too long after, she responded in a series of tweets validating her position in the duo and using the comment to reinforce why she left.
  • One Direction Predictions: Harry Styles Next To Leave Following Zayn Malik, Says 'This Is Us' Director Morgan Spurlock

Now that Zayn Malik has split from One Direction, the question on everyone's mind is what the future of 1D as a foursome will look like and how long the group will last in this formation. Morgan Spurlock, the director of the group's 2013 concert film This Is Us, has now given his opinion on the situation. He believes that now that Malik has left, the boys probably have a few years before Harry Styles goes solo.
  • 4/20: The Beatles, Louis Armstrong and Fabolous: History's Most Notable Marijuana Arrests

Few industries have been as supportive of the 4/20 holiday as the music business, considering how often our performers (and fans) seem to enjoy the subtle joys of marijuana. If you were around for Record Store Day during 2013, you may have witnessed just how early music fans will both line up and light up. Arrests for marijuana possession are almost a non-news item at this point: Rap performers Migos and Nelly have both been incarcerated for that (and a few other charges) in the last few weeks. The reason why those stories fail to shock us? Although the Reagan administration has been criticized for its "war on drugs," it focused on much more potent drugs while society has eased off on its fear of pot. Some states even allow it to be bought, sold and smoked legally. Here are five cases of musicians who served as martyrs for the cause before we as a society began to relax, including The Beatles, Louis Armstrong and Fabolous.
  • 2 Chainz Smokes A $10,000 Bong On 'Most Expensivest Sh-t' For 4/20

2 Chainz, real name Tausheed Epps, is back with a new episode of his web series for GQ "Most Expensivest Sh*t." Typically he brings on a guest to help him try out whatever outrageously priced item is on the menu that day, but this episode is just Tity Boi and one of favorite activities. The "Birthday Song" rapper heads to Los Angeles to a high-end smoke shop where he finds some of the finest glass bongs and hookahs around because it is 4/20. The man helping 2 Chainz, named George, shows off a few of the more smaller pieces that run up to a couple hundred dollars, but Epps emphasizes he is there for the "most expesivist sh*t" and that is when George breaks out the one of a kind, $10,000 "Picasso of Bongs," the Armageddon.
