  • Marilyn Monroe Named the New Face of Max Factor

Well, this is interesting: Usually when a cosmetics company is looking for its next celebrity spokesperson, it chooses someone current who is already grabbing headlines. Today, Max Factor announced that it is going to abandon the latest talent in favor of going in a more iconic direction. Marilyn Monroe has been named the newest face of Max Factor cosmetics. The fact that she has been dead for 53 years did not matter when her own beauty was always in a class by itself.Monroe will star in this year's advertising campaigns and the focus will be on how make-up helped to transform her from mousy Norma Jeane Mortenson to the red-lipped, platinum-haired bombshell, which cemented her reputation as one of the world's most infamous bombshells. Monroe was reportedly a client of Max Factor's in the 1940s and indulged in the brand until her unexpected death in 1963."Marilyn made the sultry red lip, creamy skin and dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the Forties, and it's a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry. It is the ultimate look that defines glamour — nothing else compares," says Pat McGrath of Max Factor to "The Daily Telegraph."
  • Queen Elizabeth II Is Mortified by Allegations of Prince Andrew's 'Sex Slave' Teenager

The royal family's PR machine is working overtime to try and categorically shoot down the claims of a woman who insists she was a "sex slave" to Prince Andrew more than a decade ago when she was still a teenager. The allegations were made as part of a civil suit against already-convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who was once one of the Duke of York's best friends. Andrew cut his holiday on the ski slopes short in order to return to Buckingham Palace to face Queen Elizabeth II Sunday, Jan. 4.The royal family has now issued a few statements, emphatically denying the claims that Virginia Roberts has made against Andrew, and even his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson has spoken out on his behalf, but this scandal does not seem like it is going away anytime soon. While Elizabeth is and always has been as strong and stoic as it gets, her health is failing and she has heart issues that do not need to be compounded by this sort of stress. According to a report by Radar Online, she is mortified that her favorite son is being accused of such impropriety. No matter what the real truth is, Andrew is unlikely to face any type of criminal punishment because he is protected under a deal that Epstein took when dealing with the government. That does not mean he will escape the wreckage of this kind of scandal unscathed, though.
  • Icy Conditions May Have Damaged AirAsia Flight 8501's Engine, Causing Plane to Crash

As pieces of AirAsia Flight 8501 are slowly being recovered from the bottom of the Java Sea, investigators are beginning to put together an idea of what may have happened to the lost plane. We have already learned that the weather, quite obviously, played a big role in the demise of this craft, and while some question whether or not it should have even been flying, there were six other planes nearby that safely navigated through similar conditions. That seems to indicate that perhaps Flight 8501 had another issue, and an Indonesian government agency is the first to publicly lean that way.According to the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics, also known as BMKG, icing may have damaged the plane's engine, ultimately causing it to stall out and then crash to the sea below it. As it stands now, actually recovering bodies and wreckage has been a difficult task because of driving, monsoon-like rains and 12-foot waves in the search area. Searchers are finding what they need to, but it has been a slower process than officials would like.We also learned this past weekend that Flight 8501 never should have been in the air on Sunday morning. AirAsia is permitted to run the Surabaya-Singapore route four days a week each week, but Sunday is not an approved day. The carrier is now being investigated because of this and could ultimately be grounded for breaking this rule. The flight's black box, which contains the cockpit voice recorder as well as the flight data recorder, has yet to be discovered.
  • Jury Selection Begins in Trial of Boston Marathon Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

Potential jurors first came face to face with Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in court this morning, Jan. 5. Within the next three days as many as 1,200 people will be called into federal court to be viewed as potential jurors. Only 12 jurors and six alternates are needed, but it will likely take a deep pool to find that many people have not already formed an opinion on Tsarnaev's involvement in the twin bombing and events shortly thereafter on April 15, 2013, which resulted in three deaths and injuries to 260 people.According to Yahoo News, Monday begins what will likely be a gruesome and difficult trial that will last for months. It was also only the second time in 18 months that Tsarnaev has seen the light of day."Appearing in court Monday morning for only the second time in 18 months, Tsarnaev, with a short beard and shaggy hair, was seated in front of the first 200 of 1,200 prospective jurors in the case who quietly stared at the suspected bomber as presiding Judge George O'Toole explained the selection process," said Yahoo."O'Toole told the jurors the trial is tentatively scheduled to begin Jan. 26 and is expected to last three to four months. As he spoke, Tsarnaev, who was dressed in khaki pants and dark sweater, stared mostly at the table, looking up occasionally at the judge and out towards the prospective jurors. He could be seen drumming his fingers on his chair underneath the table," said Yahoo.
  • Khloé Kardashian Insinuates That Kim Kardashian Is Already Pregnant

The trailer for the next season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" first aired last night, and in it we see Kim Kardashian actively trying to get pregnant again. It looks like her quest for a second child with Kanye West will be a major storyline on the reality show and, following the teaser, Khloé Kardashian shocked fans with a post on her official Instagram account that was also quickly deleted. The pic posted shows a positive pregnancy test and Khloé asks fans who they think is pregnant, with the choices being her, Kim or their 18-year-old step-sister Kendall Jenner. The answer here would at least appear to be pretty obvious. In recent weeks, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding Kim, and it has been widely reported that she was struggling to conceive. The star told her fans just last week that she is not pregnant.
  • In Spite of Scandal, Donald Trump Lets Us All Know How Cool He Still Thinks Bill Cosby Is on Premiere of 'Celebrity Apprentice'

Keshia Knight Pulliam found herself in the unenviable position of being the first person fired from "Celebrity Apprentice" last night, Jan. 4, and the reason she was cut so quickly is raising eyebrows this morning. The show was actually filmed in May 2014, several months before the sexual abuse scandal surrounding Bill Cosby would reignite and threaten to destroy his career. But it was because Pulliam did not call Cosby for a donation that she was ultimately fired and Donald Trump's support of the man was epic. The final few minutes in the boardroom were pretty awkward for everyone watching, as Trump grilled Pulliam on her choice not to reach out to Cosby."Did you call Bill?" Trump asked her."I did not," Pulliam said, crying. "I have not talked to Bill Cosby on the phone in I don't know how long. So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to you for five years, except for when we run into each other for a Cosby event — I feel that's not my place to do.""I really believe, if you'd called that gentleman, he would've helped you, even if you hadn't spoken to him in years, because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever. So I think it would've been a very good call to make for charity. But you have to take responsibility. I think you agree with that," said Trump.
  • 'RHONJ' Teresa Giudice Has Turned Herself in to Danbury Federal Prison to Begin Serving 15-Month Sentence

The first day of the next 15 months of Teresa Giudice's life has finally arrived. "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star turned herself in to Danbury Federal Correctional Institution at around 3 a.m. this morning, Jan. 5, accompanied by her attorney, James J. Leonard Jr. Her husband, Joe Giudice, stayed behind with the couple's four children, no doubt one of the hardest days of their lives. When asked about Giudice's mindset this morning, Leonard claims his client actually was holding up well, all things considered. He told northjersey.com that Giudice was:"Very, very strong. Very, what I would say is, very anxious to get this thing started and very anxious to get it behind her. In all of my discussions with her, her singular focus has been on her four children. She's never talked about what is this gonna be like for me. Always her concern is with her children, not with herself. We worked it out with the prison. They wanted her to report at 3 a.m. We actually got to Danbury at about a quarter to 2. Then we went and found a diner and had something to eat. We just talked and then when we were done, we went to the prison."Leonard also said the prison staff was kind to Giudice and answered her questions about visitation and phone calls. No doubt this is the start of reality finally hitting the reality star and her kids as well. Her oldest daughter, Gia Giudice, has already shown some understandable emotional cracks, and this past weekend was tough on the 13-year-old.
  • AirAsia was Not Permitted to Fly Surabaya-to-Singapore Route on Day of Crash

As if a lost plane and over 120 missing passengers that have yet to be recovered isn't enough for AirAsia to have to handle, we're learning that the carrier could ultimately find itself in a lot of trouble or even have operations completely shuttered. The problem is that legally, AirAsia Indonesia didn't have permission to fly the Surabaya-to-Singapore route on the Sunday morning that Flight 8501 ultimately crashed into the Java Sea killing all on board.
