Discogs Leads Vinyl Boom, Exceeds 43 Million in Sales for 2015
Discogs, the online vinyl and CD marketplace, celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the site has shared some propriety information regarding its role within the US vinyl boom with Billboard: so far in 2015 the site has exceeded $43.5 million in sales. To translate that figure into terms we audiophiles prefer, that's 2.5 million records, half a million CDs and 50,000 cassette tapes. Furthermore, as Resident Advisor reports, the figures reflect an industry-wide increase in vinyl sales, with the stats in the US at their highest in 25 years. -
Bill Murray Collaborates with Phoenix, Miley Cyrus, More in New Christmas Special Trailer
Bill Murray is ringing in the holiday season with the Sofia Coppola-directed Christmas special A Very Murray Christmas airing on Netflix on November 4th. When Netflix announced the special back in May they called it an "homage to the classic variety show," which of course means the special boasts an all-star cast and lots of quirkiness. The new trailer dropped this week and with it came more glimpses of guest stars including including Miley Cyrus, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix, George Clooney, Amy Poehler, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, Jason Schwartzman, and Maya Rudolph among others. -
Nicky Romero Admits He Suffers from Anxiety, Shares New “Lighthouse” Video [WATCH]

DJ Kill Paris Changes Stage Name to Chill Harris After Terrorist Attacks in France
Electronic producer Corey Baker, AKA Kill Paris, has decided to change his DJ name in light of the tragic terrorist attacks on Paris, France late this past Friday evening. As Dancing Astronaut reports, Baker explains in a lengthy Facebook post that after the recent violent events he feels it would be inappropriate to continue to use a stage name that risks being associated with, in his words, "the negatives in life." He changed his Twitter handle to @SaveParis and will now perform under the new moniker Chill Harris. -

Fred Armisen and Bill Hader's fake '70s soft rock band, Blue Jean Committee, has graduated from a "Saturday Night Live" sketch to a full-grown comedy band with a very real recording. The blue-eyed soulful parody band is releasing their debut EP, 'Catalina Breeze,' on November 20th via Drag City. Dozens Dead and Hostages Held During Eagles of Death Metal Concert in Paris
Earlier tonight, a series of shootings unfolded at several Paris venues. Reports state that the deadliest of the multiple simultaneous attacks seem to have targeted the Bataclan concert hall during the Eagles of Death Metal’s sold-out performance Friday evening. The news is still breaking, but various media outlets have stated that there have already been multiple fatalities and anywhere between 60 to 100 hostages were held at the venue. -
Missy Elliott Shares New Video for “WTF (Where They From)” Featuring Pharrell
Missy Elliott has dropped the video for her new song "WTF (Where They From)," featuring a verse from fellow Virginian Pharrell Williams. It's been over a decade since the iconic late 90s/early 2000s futurist rapper has released an album and three years since she released a single. Will Butler of Arcade Fire has reviewed Grimes' new Art Angels album on Talkhouse, the website where artists talk about other artists. Despite asserting early-on that "Grimes is coming, to a large extent, from the world of 2000s pop, but she creates a giant, esoteric, viable world teeming with all sorts of poisonous Jurassic life" the Canadian multi-instrumentalist and composer overcomes his general disdain for 2000s pop (and Jurassic-era life on Earth) for just long enough to compare Grimes to Eiffel 64 and discuss the cultural importance of Bob Dylan and Prince, among other pop music and literary icons. -
Unheard Jeff Buckley Songs, Including Covers of The Smiths and Bob Dylan, to be Released
A new album of previously unheard Jeff Buckley recordings, entitled You and I, is due out March 16 of next year via Legacy Recordings, NPR reports. Most of the forthcoming album's tracks are covers, including The Smiths' "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" and "I Know It's Over," Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman," Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People" and Led Zeppelin's "Night Flight." Digital pop star Hatsune Miku has announced her first North American headlining tour, Miku Expo 2016. For the uninitiated, the Japanese star is a computer-generated avatar that sings with the help of a synthesizer and performs with a backing band consisting of human musicians. The animated character is more than a performing hologram: fans can use her synthesized voice to create their own songs. -

Kieran Hebden, AKA Four Tet, has revealed that he was an extra in the music video for Radiohead's seminal classic "Creep." The London-based electronic producer revealed the details of his 1993 cameo as part of the thrashing mass of moshers in the now-iconic video in a conversation with BBC 6 Music's Gilles Peterson during a special about Hebden's career entitled Worlds and Music With Four Tet. It's pretty much impossible to discern the artist's silhouette from the others in the video's crowd, but try to spot him in the video anyway, below. -
'Jem and the Holograms' Pulled From Theaters After Record-Breaking Box Office Lows
The "Jem and the Holograms" reboot has been pulled from U.S. theaters just two weeks after its release. The movie, based on the 1980s animated series of the same name, pulled in a record-breaking box office low of $1.37 million its opening weekend and barely reached the $2.1 million mark in its two weeks on screens. -
Aziz Ansari's Netflix Show 'Master of None' Shares Season 1 Playlist [LISTEN]
Aziz Anzari's new show, Master of None, debuted last Friday via Netflix to a flood of rave reviews from fans all over Twitter. As one might guess considering the show shares a title with a Beach House song, the show's soundtrack which is curated by the show's music supervisor Zach Cowie alongside Anzari makes for an awesome playlist. Time Warp Techno Festival Faces Opposition From Brooklyn Community
The second US edition of Time Warp, Germany's longest-running techno festival, is scheduled to bring some of the world's best techno, deep house, and minimal producers and DJs to the Bedford Armory in Crown Heights, Brooklyn in two weeks. However, the festival is facing some serious opposition from the community: local residents and elected representatives including Assemblymember Walter Mosley have been voicing concerns regarding various quality of life issues and lobbying City Hall to shut the event down. As Mosley stated to local news outlet DNAinfo, his constituents are mostly worried about parking and "potentially intoxicated" ravers meandering the neighborhood after the event. -
SXSW Hit-and-Run Drunk Driver Who Killed 4 Sentenced to Life
Rashad Charjuan Owens, the hit-and-run driver who killed four people when he plowed through a crowd of people at 2014's South by Southwest festival in Austin, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. A Travis County jury convicted the 23 year old of capital murder after relatively brief deliberations. -

Riff Raff has just leaked his new mini-EP entitled 'Trench Coat Towers,' which is set to officially drop next week on iTunes. His new poetry book, "NEON ViBES," is also due out next week. Mysteryland USA Will Return to Woodstock ‘69 Grounds in 2016 on a New Date
Mysteryland, the world's longest-running electronic music, culture and arts festival, has announced that it will return for its third annual U.S. edition on the grounds of the original 1969 Woodstock festival. While the event is returning to the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, it's not coming without some major changes in 2016. For starters, festival organizers have chosen a new date. The tens of thousands of attendees will descend upon New York's Catskills the weekend of June 10-13, rather than raving in the woods on Memorial Day Weekend like in years past. -
