Their sources say Kardashian was swarmed by photographers at a Beverly Hills medical building. The man had reportedly tried to help her get through the crowd and said to her, "F**k these fa**ot-ass n***rs," referring to the paparazzi. She reportedly told him not to use the N-word, and he screamed at her, "F**k you, b*tch. Just trying to help you. Shut up n***r lover, stupid sl*t."
  • Manhattan Community Board to vote on 'Beastie Boys Square' intersection in the Lower East Side

    As previously reported, Brooklyn resident LeRoy McCarthy wrote a petition to name the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington streets in New York's Lower East Side after the Beastie Boys. Tomorrow evening, a community board in lower Manhattan will vote for the corner to be renamed "Beastie Boys Square." The area was chosen because the corner is featured on the cover of the hip-hop trio's groundbreaking 1989 album, Paul's Boutique.

  • Beats Music to launch subscription streaming service January 21st

    Beats Music announced yesterday on its website that it will be launching itsnew music streaming subscription service in the U.S. on January 21. The service (formely dubbed "Daisy") was developed by Interscope/Geffen/A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine along with Dr. Dre, Beats Electronics president Luke Wood and Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor. The subscription offers a catalog of more than 20 million fully licensed songs from both major and independent labels.

    UK electro rockers Alt-J have announced the departure of founding bassist Gwil Sainsbury. In a Twitter post yesterday (January 11), the band wrote that he was leaving Alt-J effective immediately. The departure appears to be amicable with the band saying the removal was "purely a personal decision" and "as our best friend, we support him completely."
  • Red Bull Music Academy to release documentary and book about making music

    Red Bull Music Academy is releasing a new documentary and book to celebrate its 15th anniversary, according to SPIN. The documentary, What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music, "explores the challenges that a life in music can bring," the RBMA website explains. It "delves deeply into the many challenges, stages of development and triumphs that musicians experience ... [and] it seeks to go beyond just music, and ask questions about life itself."

    Awards Season has officially begun. The Grammys are just weeks away, and now the nominees for the 2014 Brit Awards have been announces. At the top of the list are two British acts, Disclosure (collaborator Sam Smith just won BBC's Sound of 2014) and Bastille, who have four nominations each. Despite not being up for any Grammy nominations (likely due to not being eligible this year), One Direction has been nominated as well for British Single and British Group.

    Dennis Rodman isn't the only American entertainer that's been in North Korea recently. According to The Guardian, aspiring DC rappers Pacman and Peso have released a new music video that was filmed under the radar there, appropriately dubbed "Escape to North Korea." The rappers had barely been outside their own communities in Washington DC before deciding to head to the country known for rocky relations with America.

    The Griswolds are at a turning point. Following their breakout EP, Heart Of A Lion, they are headed to the studio this month with Tony Hoffer, who has produced albums for M83, Phoenix, Foster the People, The Kooks, Fitz and the Tantrums and Beck, among others, and are now under Wind-Up Records’ label.

  • Tupac Shakur reportedly auditioned to be in 'Star Wars'

    Before his death, Tupac Shakur reportedly auditioned for the part of Jedi Master Mace Windu in 1999's Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, according the website 2Pac-Forum. Rick Clifford, who worked as an engineer at Death Row Records, told the website in an interview that Shakur had told him about going to a reading with George Lucas for the film. Unfortunately for Pac, the part ultimately went to Samuel L. Jackson.
