Former 'Dateline' Reporter Chris Hansen Returning to Television with 'Killer Instinct' on ID
Even if the name "Chris Hansen" does not ring an immediate bell, you probably still know who he is. Hansen starred in "Dateline NBC's" investigative "To Catch a Predator" series, which began in 2004 and ran for years until the network moved in a different direction and let him go in 2013. Hansen is a 20-year veteran of NBC and his reporting has made him an Emmy winner who was not going to be missing from television for long. After a bit of a break, Hansen has been hired for Investigation Discovery's new six-part series "Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen.""Investigation Discovery is thrilled to bring Chris Hansen's journalistic expertise and passion for the truth to our viewers. Chris and our partners at ITN Productions are working hard to produce an investigative newsmagazine that will draw in the viewer and make them feel as if they are right there in the moment — living every jolt and shock as the criminal drama unfolds. That is what Chris does best, and we look forward to what will unfold in 'Killer Instinct,'" said Henry Schleiff, group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, Destination America, Discovery Family Channel and Discovery Life Channel.Hansen is thrilled to be back doing what he loves best: working in the field in a dicey situation. -
NBC Blames Sources for Inaccurate Reporting About Status of Gunmen in 'Charlie Hebdo' Massacre
If you were tuned in to either NBC or MSNBC last night, Jan. 7, as your source for learning what was unfolding in France, then you no doubt were shocked when the network actually was reporting completely inaccurate information for at least an hour. While there has been major police activity in Paris and various parts of France, NBC claimed there had been a shootout about 90 minutes north of the City of Lights that killed one suspect in the terrorist attack on the offices of "Charlie Hebdo." Supposedly, the other two gunmen were in custody, tying up the manhunt with a nice, neat bow. Unfortunately, none of it was true.French police did capture the youngest suspect, 18-year old Hamyd Mourad, but even as of now, Said and Cherif Kouachi remain on the run. Once NBC realized its huge mistake, its representatives issued retractions of their earlier reporting. The network told Deadline, "NBC News issued an earlier report based on intelligence from two consistently reliable U.S. counterterrorism officials in different government agencies. As soon as it became evident that our sources doubted their information, we immediately updated our reporting across all platforms and continue to do so as this fast-moving story unfolds."At the time, NBC was saying that a senior security official was the source of their information. Even though the network acknowledged their misinformation as soon as they were made aware of it, it never actually apologized for its part in passing on misleading information in something as serious as a manhunt following a terrorist attack. -
Will 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Generate Enough Heat with an R Rating from MPAA?
It seems like we have been waiting forever for the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" to be released, and now that it is almost here, it has finally been given an official rating by the MPAA. Although it seemed like it was heading for an NC-17 branding, it has just been announced that "Fifty Shades of Grey" will hit theaters Feb. 13 with an R rating. The film, based on E.L. James's risqué BDSM trilogy, pulled an official R rating due to "strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity," which, of course, is no surprise to anyone who has read the series. But there has been concern all along about taking something so graphic and putting it on the big screen. In order to make fans of the book happy, whatever unfolds on screen is going to have to be really hot and risky. It is almost hard to imagine the film being able to mirror the book with just an R rating, don't you think?Perhaps what Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, have managed to create on screen will still hold even if it is not identical to the book. If their chemistry works well enough and if the actual movie is as cleverly crafted as the teasers for it have been, then it could work. Dornan recently talked about "Fifty Shades of Grey" being a love story at its root. Maybe they have worked to tap into an emotional connection as well as the obvious physical one that the book series is based on. -
Did 'Today's' Matt Lauer Have an Affair with Giada De Laurentiis?
Giada De Laurentiis has been plagued with rumors ever since announcing her split from husband Todd Thompson last week. She has been accused of cheating on her soon-to-be-ex with several different men, and while De Laurentiis is denying all accusations of infidelity, there is one that is raising eyebrows. The celebrity chef has been accused of hooking up with the host of "The Today Show," Matt Lauer, who is often the subject of cheating rumors himself.According to Page Six, De Laurentiis denies getting cozy with the married Lauer in 2011 in Barbados, where he was filming a segment for the NBC morning news program. The problem is that Lauer has been accused of cheating on his long-suffering wife Annette Rogue, with numerous women over the course of their 17-year marriage. Even just a few weeks ago we told you about how Lauer chose to spend last summer holed up in his New York City apartment rather than out in the Hamptons with his wife and children. That was after NBC agreed to have a helicopter fly him to and from work each day so he could be close to his family all summer. It is Lauer's dicey history that is making many wonder if something did happen a few years ago with De Laurentiis. -
John Travolta Signs On to Play Robert Shapiro in 'American Crime Story: People Vs. O.J.'
Ryan Murphy continues to piece together what will likely turn into his next hit show. "American Crime Story: People Vs. O.J." is scheduled to begin filming in Los Angeles within the next few months, and it is lining up quite an interesting list of names to portray key players in one of the most well-known trials in recent American history. We have already told you about David Schwimmer, Sarah Paulsen and Cuba Gooding Jr. being signed to the project, and it has now been confirmed that John Travolta has been cast as Robert Shapiro.According to a report by Deadline, "Travolta also will serve as a producer on the miniseries, which takes a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness and the LAPD's history with the city's African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt."This marks Travolta's first TV series role since the 1975-79 comedy "Welcome Back, Kotter." He joins David Schwimmer, who plays another Simpson attorney, his confidant Robert Kardashian; Cuba Gooding Jr, who portrays Simpson; and Sarah Paulson, who plays prosecutor Marcia Clark." -
Various French Media Companies Offer to Keep 'Charlie Hebdo' Running
Less than 24 hours after two gunmen walked into the Parisian offices of "Charlie Hebdo" and opened fire, killing 10 key staffers, the French media is working together to figure out how to keep the publication running. The publication takes a weekly satirical look at hot button political and religious issues — something everyone does not always appreciate. In fact, the offices were fire bombed back in 2010, leading to a regular police presence around the perimeter of the building the newspaper was located in. While not everyone agrees with the content that has been produced by "Charlie Hebdo," the right to produce it has been widely supported, especially in light of this tragedy.According to a report by "The Hollywood Reporter," the French media is beginning to work together to align itself so "Charlie Hebdo" will continue, exactly what the gunmen still on the loose did not want to see happen."TV giant France Televisions, Radio France and newspaper 'Le Monde,' in a joint statement late on Wednesday, [Jan. 7,] vowed to offer human and material support needed to keep 'Charlie Hebdo' alive. They didn't immediately detail how much staff and what other help they would make available."The three groups invite all French media who have mobilized since this morning to meet to preserve the principles of independence and liberty of thought and expression, the guarantors of our democracy," said an official statement that was announced this morning regarding the future of "Charlie Hebdo." -
Joan Rivers Surgeon Believed That Anesthesiologists During Endoscopic Procedures Are a Waste of Money
Four months after Joan Rivers died after going into cardiac arrest during what should have been a simple endoscopic procedure, we are slowly but surely learning bits and pieces about the people who were in that procedure room with her. Dr. Lawrence Cohen was the surgeon on duty and also the medical director at the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic where Rivers was a patient. In 2012, Cohen wrote an article bemoaning the cost of having an anesthesiologist on duty for simply endoscopic procedures.According to TMZ, which dug up the piece written by Cohen, the good doctor was seemingly more worried about cost-effectiveness than anything else.Cohen writes, "Although we can all agree that [monitored anesthesia care] is a highly effective and safe method of sedation, the question is whether it is worth the extra cost to our health care system."Cohen then answers his question: "The answer is clearly no."Cohen crunches the number in his article, saying the average cost for an anesthesiologist is $400 per procedure, but the risk of death is 1 out of 100,000. Cohen therefore concludes that it costs $40 million to save one life, adding that cost "far exceeds ... an acceptable level of cost-effectiveness." -
Bill Cosby Gets Standing Ovation and Protests at Canadian Show
Bill Cosby claims to have had a "wonderful time" performing in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, last night, Jan. 7. It was his first stand-up gig since last November, when detailed allegations of sexual assault first appeared again in the press. It is not the first time Cosby has been accused, but the allegations are really sticking this time around. Last night's performance was met with cheers as well as several protesters. When Cosby took the stage at the Center in the Square theater, about a third of the seats were empty in what would normally have been a sell-out crowd. While an announcer warned that there could be disruptions, there was not a single heckler in sight. The audience was polite and Cosby ended with a partial standing ovation. He also thanked the crowd for showing up and supporting him. While, all things considered, this show was a success, it is nothing compared to the kind of showing the comedian usually gets for one of his stand-up gigs. This show, as well as two others in Ontario, were booked before the scandal began, and when Cosby did not back out and cancel the dates, the venues were not going to risk doing it and being sued for breech of contract. What remains to be seen is whether or not Cosby will be able to book any new shows for this year. Several dates have already been canceled in the U.S. and we are not hearing any new ones being added to his schedule as of yet. -
Teresa Giudice Called Melissa and Joe Gorga Hours Before Turning Herself In to Blame Them for Her Situation
For a while it looked like Teresa Giudice might have finally made peace with her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Melissa Gorga, didn't it? The last season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey showed the formerly estranged family getting along and acting normal. The Gorgas were constantly showing support for Giudice, but in the months since she was sentenced to 15 months in prison, there has been silence. As it turns out, things were not quite as cool as it seemed when they were filming, and in her final weeks of freedom Giudice started blaming everyone for her fate, including the Gorgas.According to a report by Radar Online, Giudice made a number of calls before reporting to prison early Monday morning, Jan. 5, and one of those was to her brother and Melissa:"Teresa called many people the night before she went to prison. Two of the people she called happened to be Melissa and Joe. She was insistent that they were partially to blame for her jail sentence because they came on the Real Housewives of New Jersey and made her look bad. The conversation did end amicably. However, it obviously wasn't a positive thing to have her pointing blame for her legal issues in their direction." -
The Late Diem Brown Wanted to Win Final MTV 'Challenge' for Money to Start a Family Via a Surrogate
The death of Diem Brown in November seemed to really strike a nerve with a lot of people. She had risen to fame on MTV's "The Challenge" series and competed in several seasons. Almost from the moment Brown was introduced to viewers we knew she had cancer. She seemed to successfully beat it twice before getting sick all over again last August while filming "The Challenge: Battle of the Exes 2." Last night's premiere of the show, Jan. 6, was sad because Brown and her costar Ryan Knight have died since filming. What is really bittersweet was the motivation behind why Brown wanted to not only compete on the show again, but win the cash prize, she wanted to finally start a family at age 34."If I won this money, it would be my fairy tale dream. I know people are sick of me talking about cancer, trust me, I was sick of living with cancer. But it did change my life. They had to remove my ovaries, and if I'm going to have kids, I need a surrogate. I have to pay anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 per kid, so winning this prize, I could have four kids in the oven at the same time and get back on track and start my life," explained Brown. -
Tail Has Been Found for Missing AirAsia Plane, May Contain Black Boxes
Finally, conditions for the search and recovery of lost AirAsia Flight 8501 have improved enough for divers to spot the tail of the plane. It has been located about 20 miles from the craft's last known location and resting at the bottom of the Java Sea. This is particularly promising news because if it is the right side of the tail, then the black box will likely be recovered with it. That recovery is crucial in helping investigators understand exactly what happened in the final moments of the doomed flight."We've found the tail that has been our main target," Fransiskus Bambang Soelistyo, head of the search and rescue agency, said at a news conference in Jakarta. The tail was identified by divers after it was spotted by an underwater machine using a sonar scan, Soelistyo said. He displayed underwater photographs showing partial lettering on the sunken object compared with a picture of an intact Airbus A320-200 in AirAsia livery."I can confirm that what we found was the tail part from the pictures," he said, adding that the team "now is still desperately trying to locate the black box," according to a report by Reuters. So far, monsoon-like rain and minimal visibility has made recovering the bodies of the 162 passengers on board difficult, and divers have been frustrated to know that they are so close yet have not been able to fully do their job. -
'Y&R' Corey Sligh Needs to Learn How to Walk Again After Brutal Thanksgiving Attack
Soap opera star Corey Sligh is slowly recovering from a brutal attack that occurred Thanksgiving night. He and his girlfriend, Alisa Berhorst, have made it a tradition to bring Thanksgiving dinner to their friends who are stuck working, and they were doing that when the incident occurred. The "Young and the Restless" star had just pulled into a Rite Aid parking lot and saw two guys in a car speeding, doing donuts while onlookers screamed. Sligh said something to the men and ended up being purposely hit by their car and then brutally beaten. Nearly two months later the actor says he is not harboring any hatred for the men.Sligh spoke exclusively with The Wrap and explained what he remembers after telling the driver to slow down."He looked me dead in the eye and kicked open his door as hard as he could into my chest. Then I said, 'Look, I don't have any problems, man.' And I walked away, off to the left of his car. That's when I heard tires squealing behind me. I turned around and the car was 3 feet away and coming at full speed. The next thing I know I'm up on the hood of the car, flipping off of the side. I thought it was over. They both attacked me. One guy hit me repeatedly in the face. I looked up and saw the other guy shoving Alisa and [our female friend]. I tried going over there while the first guy was hitting me. I had to tackle one of the guys to get him off and that's when my arm snapped," says Sligh. -
Isn't Kylie Jenner Too Young to Cover 'Cosmo'?
Isn't 17 years old a little too young to be covering the latest issue of "Cosmopolitan"? Apparently not it you are a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family, because Kylie Jenner is gracing the magazine's February 2015 issue. Compared to some of the things her sisters have done while minors, this move actually might be tame.In the interview that accompanies the cover, Jenner admits there are times when she really does not want a life in the spotlight anymore, but then she comes to her senses and thinks the bad she has been dealt is more than worth the good she receives. Still, being the youngest in a large family and growing up on reality television has never been easy. She admits to holding it together on camera when her parents announced their split and then going to her room and crying after the fact. Then there is the pressure of having a bunch of stunning older sisters. Jenner says there has certainly been pressure to keep up with them. There have been tons of rumors about Jenner having plastic surgery already, but it is something she emphatically denies, saying, "You guys have watched me grow up since I was 9. My face is going to get different. Now, I know how to do my makeup, contour and everything. I'm not against surgery. I'd never say no, but I don't desire it right now." -
Teresa Giudice's Prison Stint Has Ended Bravo's 'RHONJ'
It looks like it really is the end of the road for "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." While the ladies still connected to the show would say they can continue without Teresa Giudice, Bravo executives apparently think otherwise. Even with her, the ratings for this past season were so low that they wisely brought in former cast members like Jacqueline Laurita to lure old fans back, and it worked. But without Giudice in the mix, according to the results from several focus groups that have been evaluated, the show is kind of doomed.According to a report by Radar Online, the network already knows that it is time to pull the plug."At this point, 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' is essentially done. Bravo has considered all of their options and they don't feel like there is really a show without Teresa. Whether the other women want to admit it or not, she is the star of the franchise. The show simply wouldn't be the same without her," says the source. -
12 People Dead in Terrorist Attack at Satirical Newspaper 'Charlie Hebdo' Offices in Paris
What an awful story to begin the day, as we have learned that two gunmen stormed the offices of "Charlie Hebdo," a French satirical newspaper, and opened fire during an editorial meeting. As of now, 12 people are confirmed dead and at least 10 more are injured. The shooting reportedly went on for five minutes and, in spite of having a shootout with police, both gunmen are still on the loose. The publication has been vilified for years because of its portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad and its offices were actually fire bombed once before. The publication had been seen as so much of a target that up until recently there was a strong police presence outside of the offices. Sources have said that it was only recently that the building became less protected. According to Chris Parsons of Yahoo News UK, French President Francois Hollande visited the site of the attack and has since called an emergency meeting."Charlie Hebdo" has a history of causing controversy with cartoons of Islam's prophet Muhammad. Speaking to the BBC after its office was firebombed in November 2011, the paper's editor-in-chief, Stephane Charbonnier — who is said to be among the dead today — said the incident had only confirmed that it was right to take the stance it did. -
Phylicia Rashad Claims Accusations Against Bill Cosby Are 'Orchestrated' to Destroy His Legacy
Bill Cosby's reputation and legacy has completely nosedived in under two months thanks to a string of allegations by several different women. Is Cosby really capable of drugging and sexually assaulting women on a regular basis? Could this many people who have never met be telling the same lie? That is what the comedian's legal team is trying to convince us of. It seems the public has hung on the words of those affiliated with Cosby and input from those who worked with him on the set of "The Cosby Show" seems invaluable. Finally, Phylicia Rashad is speaking up.Rashad was Cosby's television wife for years, and after staying quiet for several weeks, she finally spoke exclusively with Showbiz 411 yesterday, and she staunchly defended her friend."Rashad, who is one of our greatest stage actresses, has kept quiet, didn't seek me out and even said, 'I don't want to become part of the public debate.' But knowing this she did say to me, 'I love him' about Bill Cosby. She stands defiantly behind him. She told me that in the years she's known him, she has never seen the behavior alleged by the women who say they were drugged and raped, or sexually harassed," wrote Roger Friedman."Forget these women," Rashad said. "What you're seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it's orchestrated. I don't know why or who's doing it, but it's the legacy. And it's a legacy that is so important to the culture."Rashad dismisses claims from Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson."Oh, please," she said when their names came up.She is also quick to defend Camille Cosby."This is a tough woman, a smart woman," she told me. "She's no pushover." -
'RHONJ's' Teresa Giudice is Blaming SIL Melissa Gorga for Her Jail Sentence!
If you tuned in for the most recent season of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," then you saw that for the first time in years, Teresa Giudice had finally buried the hatchet with her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga. She spent the last few seasons insisting that her brother, Joe Gorga, had made the mistake of his life by marrying Melissa and she spread lies and rumors galore to bolster her claims. With prison looming, Teresa decided to clean up the mess with the Gorgas so that she could lean on them for support, which she did. Apparently behind their backs Teresa also blamed them for her being sent to prison! -

Jennifer Aniston Dishes on Her 'Challenging Companionship' in New 'In Style'
Is there anywhere that Jennifer Aniston has not been in the last several months? It seems like she has done every talk show and covered just about every magazine while promoting "Horrible Bosses 2" and "Cake," doesn't it? "In Style" magazine must have realized that it was kind of dropping the ball and decided to snatch up the hottest actress around for its February 2015 cover.Since Aniston has been opening up more than ever in ways that even her fans probably never expected her to do, she has been tackling some of the tougher topics head-on. Rather than run from things, a more centered Aniston has come off as being open and, in this latest interview, she dishes on changing her dating style over the years."I'm a late bloomer. I mean, it's no secret: I've had some challenging companionship. I think hitting a wall with that really kind of [helped me grow]. I found a great therapist. Not to sound too 'woo woo,' but I think the self-love piece was really important. And spending a lot of time alone. Having time to ask myself why there was such toxicity in my immediate space at times. Why would I attract that instead of light?" explains Aniston. -
Two More Women Join Defamation Lawsuit Already Filed Against Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby may actually be playing a few gigs in Canada this week, but back in the States his sexual assault scandal just got a little messier. For weeks now various women have come forward to accuse Cosby of drugging and then either assaulting or raping them once they were incapacitated, and finally the comedian decided to start fighting back. He hired investigators to dig up dirt on anyone making accusations, and he has also taken direct aim at any woman brave enough to publicly accuse him of wrongdoing. A defamation suit was filed against Cosby weeks ago by one of his alleged victims, Tamara Green, and now two more names have been added to that suit.According to a report by Page Six:"The amended complaint was filed Monday[, Jan. 5,] in U.S. District Court in Springfield, in western Massachusetts, where Cosby has a home in Shelburne Falls."Cosby is the only defendant in the lawsuit, originally filed last month by Tamara Green, who said he drugged and assaulted her in the 1970s. The two new plaintiffs are Therese Serignese, who said he drugged and raped her in 1976, and Linda Traitz, who alleges he tried to drug her and then sexually groped her in 1970."Attorney Joseph Cammarata, who represents the three women, said the civil action allows them to have their allegations heard since criminal statutes of limitation have expired." -
Manhunt Underway for Two Suspects Who Shot and Wounded Two NYPD Officers in the Bronx
The New York Police Department cannot seem to go more than a day without grabbing another negative headline one way or another. Sadly, on Monday night, Jan. 5, two plainclothes officers were shot while responding to a robbery call shortly after their shift had ended. The two, along with three other officers, thought they spotted the suspects who were connected to a Bronx grocery store robbery. When they got out of their vehicle, a shoot-out began with both officers ending up with injuries that are not life-threatening. There is currently a manhunt underway for both suspects, who stole and later ditched a white Camaro. While everyone is relieved that these officers have a good prognosis, this is just another dangerous incident to end up on top of the pile. After two Brooklyn officers were assassinated while having lunch in their patrol car a few weeks ago, it changed everything for the NYPD. It had previously felt as though Mayor Bill de Blasio had abandoned them by allowing protests to take place all over the city following the news that there would be no indictment in the chokehold death of Eric Garner. The NYPD feels that rather than working together for the safety of the city, he and City Hall instead made things more difficult.Once those two officers were killed, the NYPD started protesting de Blasio by turning their backs to him, and it has been downhill from there. Now with two more officers down, the NYPD still does not feel support from City Hall and believes that de Blasio helped add additional strain to the divide between protesters and police. Another double shooting was the last situation that either side needed to have to face now. -
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick Are Quitting Reality Television
A new baby might not be the only thing Kourtney Kardashian is going to be celebrating. The reality star and her baby daddy Scott Disick are just about at the end of their three-year contract with E!, and rather than signing another deal the couple seems about ready to put reality television in their past.According to a new report by Radar Online, Kardashian is wise enough to realize that doing the show with her boyfriend since 2007 has actually caused a lot more fights than they would have had if every moment of their lives was not documented for the world to see. Sources say the couple has been over the whole reality TV thing, and the buzz that comes with it for quite awhile now, but they still had to ride out the end of their contracts.Perhaps if they walk away from the cameras and daily spotlight it will actually help Disick keep himself together. His battle with alcohol and pills was one of the main storylines on "Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons," the most recent reality show of theirs to wrap up on E! Disick was and still is grieving the loss of his parents while contending with the stress of a new baby, and if we have learned anything about this guy, it is that he cannot cope well. -
Are Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed Engaged?
While it had been previously reported that loved up couple, Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder were expecting to spend 2015 together without the pressure of taking another step in their romance, it looks like that may not be the case. The couple was spotted shopping together in a jewelry store over the weekend and apparently it's not the first time that Somerhalder has looked at baubles for Reed. -
Johnny Depp's Romance with Amber Heard is Back on Track Since Sobering Up
We recently told you guys about how hard Johnny Depp was struggling to get his demons back under control after an embarrassing, drunk public display at the Hollywood Press Awards last November. Rather than heading off to a traditional rehab, Depp instead decided to pull himself together at home and the first step in doing so has been avoiding parties. He even went as far as to opt out of some of the media events for his new film, Into the Woods and thankfully it seems to be paying off. -

Whatever is going on between them now, it's not exclusive, but did Hudson know that? -
Marilyn Monroe Named the New Face of Max Factor
Well, this is interesting: Usually when a cosmetics company is looking for its next celebrity spokesperson, it chooses someone current who is already grabbing headlines. Today, Max Factor announced that it is going to abandon the latest talent in favor of going in a more iconic direction. Marilyn Monroe has been named the newest face of Max Factor cosmetics. The fact that she has been dead for 53 years did not matter when her own beauty was always in a class by itself.Monroe will star in this year's advertising campaigns and the focus will be on how make-up helped to transform her from mousy Norma Jeane Mortenson to the red-lipped, platinum-haired bombshell, which cemented her reputation as one of the world's most infamous bombshells. Monroe was reportedly a client of Max Factor's in the 1940s and indulged in the brand until her unexpected death in 1963."Marilyn made the sultry red lip, creamy skin and dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the Forties, and it's a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry. It is the ultimate look that defines glamour — nothing else compares," says Pat McGrath of Max Factor to "The Daily Telegraph." -
Queen Elizabeth II Is Mortified by Allegations of Prince Andrew's 'Sex Slave' Teenager
The royal family's PR machine is working overtime to try and categorically shoot down the claims of a woman who insists she was a "sex slave" to Prince Andrew more than a decade ago when she was still a teenager. The allegations were made as part of a civil suit against already-convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who was once one of the Duke of York's best friends. Andrew cut his holiday on the ski slopes short in order to return to Buckingham Palace to face Queen Elizabeth II Sunday, Jan. 4.The royal family has now issued a few statements, emphatically denying the claims that Virginia Roberts has made against Andrew, and even his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson has spoken out on his behalf, but this scandal does not seem like it is going away anytime soon. While Elizabeth is and always has been as strong and stoic as it gets, her health is failing and she has heart issues that do not need to be compounded by this sort of stress. According to a report by Radar Online, she is mortified that her favorite son is being accused of such impropriety. No matter what the real truth is, Andrew is unlikely to face any type of criminal punishment because he is protected under a deal that Epstein took when dealing with the government. That does not mean he will escape the wreckage of this kind of scandal unscathed, though. -
Icy Conditions May Have Damaged AirAsia Flight 8501's Engine, Causing Plane to Crash
As pieces of AirAsia Flight 8501 are slowly being recovered from the bottom of the Java Sea, investigators are beginning to put together an idea of what may have happened to the lost plane. We have already learned that the weather, quite obviously, played a big role in the demise of this craft, and while some question whether or not it should have even been flying, there were six other planes nearby that safely navigated through similar conditions. That seems to indicate that perhaps Flight 8501 had another issue, and an Indonesian government agency is the first to publicly lean that way.According to the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics, also known as BMKG, icing may have damaged the plane's engine, ultimately causing it to stall out and then crash to the sea below it. As it stands now, actually recovering bodies and wreckage has been a difficult task because of driving, monsoon-like rains and 12-foot waves in the search area. Searchers are finding what they need to, but it has been a slower process than officials would like.We also learned this past weekend that Flight 8501 never should have been in the air on Sunday morning. AirAsia is permitted to run the Surabaya-Singapore route four days a week each week, but Sunday is not an approved day. The carrier is now being investigated because of this and could ultimately be grounded for breaking this rule. The flight's black box, which contains the cockpit voice recorder as well as the flight data recorder, has yet to be discovered.
