Music Times came up a bit short in our prediction of the NCAA College Football Playoff. Comics and Music: Eminem, Prince, KISS and More Make Guest Appearances with Superman, The Punisher and Others
Run The Jewels gets the honor of having its logo and album art inspire two covers for new issues of 'Howard The Duck' and 'Deadpool.' A few performers—including Eminem, Prince and KISS— have done even better than that, starring as heroes in their own narratives, or helping out established superheroes. -

Society always celebrates the records that top the Billboard 200 album chart. Back of The Billboards is a Music Times weekly segment that looks at the opposite end: the new record that finished closest to the back of the Billboard 200 for the previous week. We hope to give a fighting chance to the bands you haven't heard of. This week we look at Ludacris' new EP 'Burning Bridges' and its lead-up to a new album during 2015, 'Ludaversal.' -
Marvel Comics News: Run The Jewels Lend Artistic Influence to Upcoming Issues of 'Howard The Duck' and 'Deadpool'
Run The Jewels is far from the best-selling hip hop act from the last two years. Despite that fact, they're potentially the most culturally relevant at the moment, thanks not only to the critical acclaim that's been brought down upon its self-titled debut from 2013 and Run The Jewels 2 last year, but also the group's recognizable logo: A pair of amputated hands, one holding a chain and the other making a gun. That sort of recognizability has gotten them an honor that many an emcee can't claim: a Marvel comic book cover. -

Izod Center—Longtime New Jersey Staple of Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and More—to Close in March
It's almost a story out of a Bruce Springsteen song: All the jobs are going elsewhere and the town begins to die. The "town" in this case is the Izod Center at the Meadowlands complex in East Rutherford, one of The Boss's favorite concert joints in his home state. A rash of competition in the region, from the Newark Prudential Center to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, have begun swallowing up both music and sports events. Now Governor Chris Christie is pushing a plan to close the arena in March. -

Metallica's Controversial 'St. Anger' Rerecorded by Fans as Experiment; More Traditional Production, Trimmed Length, Better Product?
Let's get this out of the way: Your correspondent is a fan of St. Anger. Granted, that's relative term—Metallica hasn't put out a consistent, quality album since 1991 (aside from the excellent live set S&M—-but the more lo-fi, raw approach to the album helped me believe for a moment that the band hadn't become a shiny, arena act, even if it did headline arenas. A majority of the band's fans disagree with my analysis however, referring to St. Anger in the same light as Chinese Democracy, a massive disappointment. With that in mind, a trio of fans have gone about rerecording the entire album, produced in a way they feel will make it more appealing. -
Album Sales: Taylor Swift and '1989' Border 4 Million Overall, 'Guardians of The Galaxy Awesome Mix' Continues Solid Sales
Once again the actual album sales were a near clone to their cohort the Billboard 200 this week, with some subtle reorganizations going on. Taylor Swift was at the top with 1989 once again, selling 111,000 copies of her album. Just last week she had her first slot with less than 200,000 in sales for 2015's bestselling album and now it looks like she may drop below 100,000 next week. On the plus side, Swift is at 3.94 million total units moved for the album, meaning it will most likely reach quadruple-platinum in the next seven days. -

6 Hip-Hop Performers Whose Second Album Is Best: Beastie Boys, Ice Cube, A Tribe Called Quest and More
Rumors are swirling around the GOP that Mitt Romney might seek the Presidency once again during the 2016 election, granted he can secure the Republican nomination. It's rare to see failed candidates attempt to run again-we haven't had a second-run candidate win since Richard Nixon in 1968-but that doesn't mean he can't do better this time around. To highlight this potential we at Music Times have selected six performers from Romney's favorite genre, hip-hop (EDITOR'S NOTE: we have since realized that the comment from Editor in Chief Emily "Witty" Wittman was in fact a joke. However we've already done all the research so we're running with it), who released their best album during their second try. -
Taylor Swift and '1989' no. 1 for Ninth Time on Billboard 200; Rae Sremmurd Debuts at No. 5 with 'SremmLife,' Only New Album in Top 30
Bet you can't guess what performer finished on top of the Billboard 200 this week! Taylor Swift and 1989? Okay, maybe it wasn't that hard to figure out. Although the album saw a big drop in terms of equivalent album sales (down to 155,000, the first time at less than 200,000 for the set), it still managed to take its ninth week at no. 1 since debuting 11 weeks ago. Ed Sheeran and Nicki Minaj still factor high. -

Tupac Shakur Movie to Begin Production in 2015;, Casting Yet to Be Announced but Due to Shoot during June
Looks like shooting on a Tupac Shakur biopic will finally begin rolling later this year, as producer Randall Emmett told Collider that the film is ready to begin shooting in June. Plans originally set the film to begin shooting during early 2011 before a lawsuit brought things to a halt: Production company Morgan Creek and Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur, traded lawsuits debating whether a deal had been agreed upon or not. After a settlement was reached, Ajeni got some creative control as one of the film's executive producers. -

The festival added more firepower to a show already featuring headlining sets from Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Metallica and more. Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Bleachers, Tove Lo, Empire of The Sun and Echosmith are the latest performers to be added to the lineup as of Tuesday. -
Dez Bryant, Lemmy Kilmister and David Lee Roth: Bad Decisions Made by NFL Referees and Bands
The sports world is in shock at the reversal of Dez Bryant's crucial grab during the Green Bay/Dallas playoff game on Sunday night, a call that very well may have taken a win from the Cowboys and handed it to the Packers. NFL Referees aren't the only ones who make bad calls. Check out these five bands who fired key members and paid for it. -
Bad Habits: Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Gwen Stefani and More Performers with Nun Imagery in Music Videos
Fifty years ago featured a very special guest appearance on NBC's Tarzan, as The Supremes stopped by. Fortunately even network executives and scriptwriters in those days weren't dumb enough to put the Motown stars in potentially offensive roles so the trio of vocalists was cast as a group of nuns. It was, in short, the most politically correct portrayal of nuns on this side of The Sound of Music. Many musicians have donned habits for music videos and very few of them took as kindly to the sisterhood as NBC did. -
PonoMusic Rumored to Have Acquired Rights to Beatles Catalogue; 'Revolver' And More May Be On PonoPlayer Soon Enough
Just last week Music Times came up with a short list of relatively recent albums that we'd like to see get the full hi-res treatment at Pono, assuming that our vinyl copies of older records would do for the time being. Apparently not however, as rumors suggest CEO Neil Young and the team at PonoMusic have gotten ahold of the rights to The Beatles catalogue and are working to remaster it in full 192 kHz. The new version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is "going to blow your mind," reportedly. -
Gallows Releasing New Album in April Featuring Siouxsie Sioux-Inspired Single; Only Three Live Dates Announced So Far
