    The Skrillex media takeover is going global. Earlier today, before a set at New Zealand music festival "What's On" that featured performances from Steve Aoki, MK, What So Not and others, Skrillex stopped in with radio and live DJ Dan Aux on The George FM Selectah show to talk about music and play a surprise set on air. During that set, he felt it was no better time, since he was down under, to premiere his long-awaited collaboration with What So Not (Flume & Emoh Instead), featuring the vocals of Kristy Lee Peters, known professionally as KLP, titled "Goh." KLP was the vocalist on What So Not's track "Jaguar" that was released via Skrillex's OWSLA Records
  • Rae Sremmurd Unveil Music Video For 'Illest Walking' [WATCH]

    While everyone was stuffing their faces with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce (we were too), Rae Sremmurd was unveiling the video for their next single "Illest Walking." This single will not be included on their upcoming album Sremmlife, hitting stores Jan. 6 via EarDrummers/Interscope, Pigeons and Planes reports. The "No Flex Zone" stars create a haunting video that flips back and forth between clips of them at a live show, performing in front of a large crowd in a venue with an abandoned warehouse feel, where the duo and there crew have bottled brought to them as if they were VIPs in a club and then outside with their crew rapping near their cars on a dark rainy night.

    The feud between Anderson Cooper and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has a new and humorous spin on it. Anderson Cooper fired the first volley when he decided to put Billy Corgan on his "Ridiculist" in October after Billy Corgan posed on the front of PAWS Chicago Magazine holding 2 black cats. The magazine is the print publication for the no-kill shelter PAWS Chicago. Billy Corgan fired back with some tweets and now has manufactured some T-shirts featuring cats in bow ties that say prominently "F-k You Anderson Cooper."
  • DVBBS DJ Chris Arrested On Marijuana Possession In Atlanta

    Last night after a thanksgiving eve bash in Atlanta on the Blackout Music Tour, Christopher Robert Van Den Hoef, or Chris, of the Canadian DJ duo DVBBS was arrested in his Atlanta hotel room for possession of pot. The duo had performed alongside 2Chainz, Jowell & Randy and Popeska. According to reports, their set was played to a pretty sparse crowd due to miscommunication over set times and DVBBS decided to cut it short. They then returned to their hotel room for their traditional nightcap as leaders of the "Woozy Gang" and were met by some rather unaccommodating police officers.

    Skrillex is getting into the holiday spirit and has announced that he will be releasing a compilation from his label OWSLA, titled Eggnog, because who doesn't like Eggnog, for charity. The compilation will feature OWSLA label members and artists that Skrillex has been taking out on tour including Milo & Otis, Alex Metric, What So Not, Valentino Khan, Jack Beats, Trollphace, Snails, and his single as a part of Jack U with Diplo, "Take U There".

    Tomorrowland is known for its otherworldly production and stage designs. They have made unforgettable pieces of cinema with their 30+ minute clips over the past few years and share some brand new music from their residents, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Now GoPro, the innovative and wildly popular camera company has decided to try and one up Tomorrowland's official effort with an aftermovie of their own. "Firestone" featuring 300-signed Australian singer Conrad will be released according to Dancing Astronaut on Dec. 2 exclusively via Spotify. The preview is included in a recap video for the last leg of his "Endless Summer" tour with sold out shows in New York City and Los Angeles, while having him discuss the making of the track, how his time on tour was and what he has coming up.
  • Spotify Posts $80 Million Loss in 2013 As Revenue Rises

    Things appear to be looking up for Spotify. The Swedish music streaming giant posted their earnings for 2013 and the numbers are heading in the right direction. In its latest financial statements, Spotify reported that its revenue grew to 747 million Euros in 2013, or about $1.03 billion. That was up about 74 percent from 2012, the company said in its filings according to the NY Times. On the flip side, Spotify also had $80 million in net losses during 2013, down from a $115 million loss in 2012.

  • SFX Purchases 50% Stake in Alda Events, Dutch Dance Music Event Promoter

    Dance music media and entertainment company SFX Entertainment has expanded its empire once again by purchasing a 50 percent stake in Dutch dance music event company Alda Events. Founded by David Lewis and Allan Hardenberg in 2007, Alda Events hosts events and tours like Armin Only, I AM Hardwell, Amsterdam Music Festival during Amsterdam Dance Event and A State of Trance. Alda Events brought 130 shows to 33 countries throughout 2013 and 2014, which includes multi-day festivals and one-night-only events.David Lewis is co-founder of Armin van Buuren's record label Armada Recordings.According to the press release, the Amsterdam-based company will continue to operate as an independent company under its current CEO Hardenberg. Hardenberg will become the managing director of SFX Global Touring.

    A beef that started with a song has now returned to the craft that both parties espouse as their way of life. Migos and Chief Keef are back at it after Keef's GBE crew reportedly jumped Migos after their show in Washington, D.C., at the club Stadium. The fight, described as a "bloodbath" by a source at "Allhiphop," has since spilled over into social media and thankfully nowhere else. Now Quavo has released a song titled "The Truth" calling out the people who took his chain, calling them "little boy" numerous times throughout the tune.Quavo claims to know who took his chain and where they live, saying "we got your address and we know your name."He starts off the song with a phone call with a friend who tells him that Fat Trel from D.C. was involved in the robbery and took his chain. Quavo delivers his warning to his foes for stealing his chain, belittling them in the process.     RL Grime's debut artist album "Void" was a masterful display of creativity. The American producer showed that artists can and should explore outside their genres on full-length LPs to vary their sound. The trap-leaning moniker of Henry Steinway, RL Grime showed he was more than just a trap producer.     There are few tracks that have stood the test of time since the 1980s like Salt-N-Pepa's iconic "Push It." Even today, you will hear the instantly recognizable, spacey '80s synths carrying through the mix just about everywhere. Now insurance company GEICO has decided to call on the brilliance of the classic "Push It" for a new commercial.To make things even better, GEICO managed to get Salt-N-Pepa to be in the commercial themselves and perform the songs to a variety of different situations that required people to push things, via CNBC.The trio follows individuals onto an elevator, telling a woman to push a button; into a prenatal exercise class, imploring a woman to push it — though maybe not yet; and then onto a dummy sled, coaching football players to once again push it. The commercial could have at least plugged in the turntables or hooked them up in some way to seem less like a plastic prop, though that is getting picky with such a great commercial.

    As they announced on Power 106's "Big Boy's Neighborhood," Skrillex and Diplo have released the music video for their super duo Jack U's debut single "Take U There" alongside must-watch Canadian singer Kiesza. The video is not a big-budget music video you may find from a major-label-signed pop star, but is more of a well-produced do-it-yourself video.It features footage of Jack U performing across the Mad Decent Block Party tour this summer in Los Angeles and Dallas, with clips of the New York show at MCU Park, where "Take U There" was performed with live vocals from Kiesza for the first time. The music video takes a trippy turn with wacky Disclosure — like drawings over their faces and cartoonish animations overlaying the two DJs and singer dancing. You can tell it was pretty DIY when the police stop them for filming the video in the street. It shows the carefree and fun-loving attitude from these three, via "Spin."
  • David Guetta to Remix Band Aid 30 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'

    After losing Disclosure's potential contribution to the project because of a miscommunication, Band Aid 30's chart-topping rework of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" will get an EDM-friendly remix from French superstar David Guetta. As has become the trend lately, your song is not entirely relevant unless dance music producers are remixing it. Disclosure was wrongly placed on the artist list, so now they must get a DJ involved, and David Guetta was the choice.Sir Bob Geldof, the man leading Band Aid 30, told Vodaphone Big Top 40 how the collaboration came together, via "Mixmag": "I was in France, I made contact with David Guetta, and he texted back after I asked if he was interested in the mix, and he said, 'Ye, why not.' So we'll have the whole dance scene covered."The ensemble of singers for Band Aid 30 includes mega-pop acts like One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Chris Martin, Sam Smith and a third appearance from U2 frontman Bono. Bono appeared on two previous "Do The Know It's Christmas?" versions: the original in 1984 and again in 2004. The track recently stormed to the top of the charts in the U.K. and has caused much of the same backlash as previous editions for the smugness and patronizing tone of some of its lyrics.

The compilation features some previously remixed deadmau5 tracks that had caught his ear in the past, but it is primarily comprised of new music.
