  • Electric Forest Addresses Rumors of Beetle Infestation in Sherwood Forest

    Festivals normally are subject to all sorts of outside pressures like potential low ticket sales, trouble with the law or bad weather, but Michigan-based EDM festival, Electric Forest, is fighting a different battle with Mother Nature. Taking place on the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, the festival grounds are situated in a large wooded area, known as Sherwood Forest. According to a reddit poster, the forest is under attack by the Red Pine Beetle and organizers had contacted local foresters in attempt to quell the infestation, but Electric Forest wants fans to know their favorite forest is healthy for now.

    As deadmau5 quietly prepares for his performance at the Juno Awards tonight (March 15), his label, mau5trap, is continuing to put out new music from up-and-coming artists on the label. The latest comes from LA-based singer, songwriter Colleen D'Agostino, who released her debut EP, 'Collide,' through the "Strobe" producer's imprint. One of the songs on the six-track project, "Stay," features the production work of label head, deadmau5.
  • Is Zedd Counting Down to New Album 'True Colors'?

    Zedd appears to be counting down to a big announcement. The "Stay the Night" producer has unveiled a new website via a series of teaser videos for something called 'True Colors.' This is widely believed to be his sophomore artist album after the release of the LP's lead single "I Want You to Know" with Selena Gomez was unveiled Feb. 23. The website is blank except for a timer counting down to some sort of reveal Thursday, March 19, at 5 p.m. EST.
  • Axwell Λ Ingrosso Share Part 2 of "On My Way" Film With Techno Viking-Inspired "Can't Hold Us Down"

    Axwell / Ingrosso have released Part 2 of their music video/film series. The new video for the previously released single "Can't Hold Us Down" follows up "On My Way," which introduced the story of Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso as fighters pitted against each other in a rural, beat-down manufacturing town in Romania. Just like a TV show, the video starts off with scenes from the previous video, giving viewers a recap of what happened in "On My Way" before launching right into the second part of the video. "Cant Hold Us Down" kicks off right where "On My Way" ended, as Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso run away from Hedford's angry financial backers, who are unhappy to see that they lost their money and the two had conspired against everyone. A car blows up rather unnecessarily and then a scene inspired by Techno Viking occurs with the burly enforcer taking off his shirt and laying down some awesome dance moves.

    Gary Richards's Hard Events has announced the dates for its summer festival Hard Summer. The two-day electronic music festival will be held at the Fairplex, formerly known as the Los Angeles Country Fairgrounds, in Pomona, California, just outside Los Angeles. The festival will be held Aug. 1 to 2 and early-bird tickets will go on sale tomorrow, March 13.

    After several different previews over the past few days, Usher and Martin Garrix have officially announced their collaboration together and given the track a release date. "Don't Look Down," the pair's song together, will be released through RCA Records and Garrix's label home Spinnin Records in just five days March 17, according to a press release.

    French future house star Tchami -- real name Martin Bresso -- has shared his first single in close to a year, and the wait has been worth it. His new single "After Life" has everything fans want from Tchami, with the jogging bass line, open hi-hats and chugging, booming plucks, but it is the rest of the song where the mysterious producer shows his prowess. Tchami shows a level of maturity with this production, incorporating mysterious vocals from Stacy Barthe that ask "Where do I go, in the afterlife / I've got questions, spiritual questions" with long, oscillating builds. The reference to the afterlife and "spiritual questions" is interesting for Tchami because he always performs in priest robes without seemingly to be an overly religious man in any other way. Maybe his upcoming EP will reveal something about the noticeably quiet, yet towering man.

Adding to the intrigue, A-Trak went on Genius, the crowd-sourced lyric website that provides backstories and context for songs, to give his side of the story for how records were made when he was directly involved with Kanye, including the fact that he introduced Kanye to Daft Punk's music.
