  • Noel Gallagher Disses Ed Sheeran: 'Thinking Out Loud' Singer Fires Right Back in Response to Wembley Stadium Slight

Noel Gallagher does not dig Ed Sheeran or contemporary pop stars, for that matter. The former Oasis member shared his feelings regarding Sheeran's three sold-out Wembley Stadium dates with "NME" recently before tearing into today's musical landscape. The "Thinking Out Loud" singer promptly responded to the remarks."I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible," Gallagher said about Sheeran selling out the stadium. "When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there's a ginger guy with a f--king guitar it seems subversive, but it's f--king not."Originally, Sheeran was scheduled to play one show this July, but two additional gigs were added due to popular demand."I can live in it, it's really enjoyable," the pop star fired back.Gallagher's inital comments were followed by a long speech about the good old days.
  • Sharon Osbourne Feels 'Terrible' About Badmouthing U2's 'Songs of Innocence' After Meeting the Band

Along with pretty much the entire general public, Sharon Osbourne was critical of the band U2 for more or less forcing its 13th studio album, "Songs of Innocence," onto the world in September with the help of Apple. The sharp-tongued wife and manager of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne made it clear on Twitter that she was not happy about the album magically appearing in her iTunes. Now, though, Sharon is going back on her remarks because she met the band and they were "lovely," Blabbermouth notes.Sharon publicly apologized — sort of — yesterday, Jan. 12, on her CBS talk show "The Talk.""I've been caught badmouthing so many people — so many people — and one which was so humbling was ... I did it on the show ... I badmouthed U2 for giving their album away at Apple free. And it wasn't personal; it was business, and it was how I felt about it business-wise, but I was very scathing with my remarks," she said.
  • Stream Ryan Adams's 'No Shadow' EP Featuring Johnny Depp on Guitar [LISTEN]

Ryan Adams is keeping pace with 2014 already, dropping another EP in the form of No Shadow, "Stereogum" notes. What separates this release from last year's "1984" and "Jacksonville" shorts is that Johnny Depp, a devoted fan, joined Adams for the new effort. The pair linked up onstage in September to cover Danzig's "Mother," one of Adams's many live reworkings of 2014, and they apparently met up to put the finishing touches on "No Shadow" as well. The high-profile actor received writing credit on the title track, which he also played guitar and sang on, and contributed axe work to "It's in My Head." "Stoned Alone" is, fittingly, Adams going at it solo. Like "Jacksonville" before it, the first two tracks are keepers while the third is the singer just having some fun. Stream the EP via Spotify below.EPs aside, Adams had a solid LP year as well. His 14th(!) solo record, a self-titled release, dropped in September. The album gained attention with singles like "Gimme Something Good," "My Wrecking Ball" and "Stay with Me."
  • Garth Brooks Moves Ahead of Elvis Presley in Album Sales: Country Star Still Far Behind The Beatles

Elvis Presley may be the King of Rock 'n' Roll, but Garth Brooks is currently closer to the crown for best-selling solo artist of all-time, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The country superstar's most recent effort, "Man Against Machine," has earned platinum status, bumping his total to 135 million units. It puts Brooks just past Presley's 134.5 million units in the United States. The Beatles still top the list, though."The Last Dance" singer surpassed the King back in 2007, but fans pointed out that Presley's 118.5 million total did not include all of his early singles that the RIAA never certified as gold, platinum or beyond — Brooks had 123 million. The Beatles are currently the all-time record holders with 178 million units sold. Brooks would have to be on his A-game for the next couple years to try and overthrow the Fab Four.

  • AC/DC Soundtracks Beats Electronics Commercials Featuring NFL Stars Richard Sherman and Von Miller [WATCH]

AC/DC mania has hit the masses. The band released its 15th studio album "Rock or Bust" in December and took the rock landscape by storm. "Play Ball," the album's first single, appeared in a commercial for Major League Baseball's playoffs in October, and now the same song is being used in some advertisements for Beats Electronics. This time the sport is American football, with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller blaring the tune before a game.In both commercials, the players are driving to a stadium while listening to a broadcaster — Jim Rome — more or less talking trash. They use their slick, new headphones — Powerbeats2 Wireless and Studio Wireless — to drown out all the chatter. AC/DC's "Play Ball" fits perfectly since both players are getting ready to do just that — this could be a big one for March Madness. Check out the ads below via Blabbermouth.Historically, the Australian rockers do not license their music for commercials and ads. "Back in Black" was used in a Walmart ad in 2011 a few years after the group sold their last album, "Black Ice," exclusively through the retailer. The 1980 anthem has recently popped up in a commercial for Chevrolet's new Colorado.
  • Death Cab for Cutie Talk New Album 'Kintsugi': Record Will Be First Without Guitarist Chris Walla [TRACKLIST]

The title for the new Death Cab for Cutie album is "Kintsugi." According to an interview with "Rolling Stone," the album's name is a Japanese artform that captures where the band is currently. After 17 years, guitarist Chris Walla left the band in 2014, and now Ben Gibbard and Co. have to find a way to move forward without forgetting their humble past."It's a Japanese style of art where they take fractured, broken ceramics and put them back together with very obvious, real gold," bassist Nick Harmer said. "It's making the repair of an object a visual part of its history. That resonated with us as a philosophy, and it connected to a lot of what we were going through, both professionally and personally."Walla announced his departure from the band in September, playing his final gig with Death Cab the following month."In the West, if you break an heirloom, you either throw it away or you make the repair as invisible as possible," he added. "But there's this artistic movement in Japan where the repair of it, the damage of it, is more important as part of the history of something than repairing it to its original state."

Their masterful song about the struggle for racial equality resonates now more than ever."The first day I stepped on the set of 'Selma,' I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie," Common, who also has a part in the film, said. "As I got to know the people of the civil rights movement, I realize I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty.""We still are in solidarity with those who are out there fighting for justice right now, and we're so grateful to write this song, hopefully, as an inspiration to them," Legend added.
