• Ranking Polaris Prize Shortlist: Drake, New Pornographers and Ghostface Killah?

    The Polaris Music Prize has announced its annual shortlist of ten albums up for Canada's biggest music prize, and this year's gathering includes new icons Drake, old favorites the New Pornographers and, uh, Ghostface Killah?     After unveiling its long list last month, today (July 16) the 10 finalists for the 2015 Polaris Prize have been revealed. Celebrating the best in Canadian music on artistic merit along, this year's list is just as eclectic as one could have expected, with everyone from Drake to The New Pornographers to Alvvays and Tobias Jesso Jr. getting nominations.

    Future has just announced his new album, Dirty Sprite 2, is a week away, set to drop on July 17. With the announcement, the Freebandz boss has shared Dirty Sprite 2's first single, "Blow a Bag," produced by the all-star Atlanta team of Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital & Southside. If that's not enough, Drake has just let us know he'll be taking a spot on the album.

    Over the weekend, across the pond stars flooded The 2015 UK Wireless Festival. Acts such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and more dominated the stage. Even with such a lineup of talent, there is usually only one that truly dominates the stage and from the looks of the massive crowd's reaction to headliner Drake's set, where he brought out ILoveMakonnen and Skepta, he was the victor in this round.

    A McDonald's employee in Chicago has reportedly been fired when it was found that he was replacing the toys in Happy Meals with copies of his mixtape. Music Times places extra emphasis on "reported" because the story hasn't appeared on too many reputable news organizations, although the hilarity behind it would certainly justify one. Regardless, it ended up on Power 105's blog and that's good enough for us.
