• Jack White Covered Jimi Hendrix, Performed Longest Show Of Career Last Night [LISTEN]

Just like the vinyl edition of his most recent album Lazaretto was gimmicky in an astonishing number of ways, Jack White's recent shows seem to be newsworthy for a number of reasons as well. In addition to pulling a fan on stage to play guitar with him on the White Stripes classic "Seven Nation Army," White's show at the Chicago Theatre last night was also the longest of his career, clocking in at a foot-blistering three hours with a 33-song set list, which you can read below. Among these songs were covers by Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix, and as Consequence of Sound points out, the show also marked White's first performance of the White Stripes' "Blue Orchid" in seven years.
  • Jack White Joining Neil Young, Willie Nelson and Dave Matthews for Annual Farm Aid Festival

Farm Aid will be traveling to Raleigh, NC to the Walnut Creek Amphitheater and you can probably guess a handful of the headliners right off the bat: Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and John Mellencamp. Those four are members of the Farm Aid board so they traditionally make appearances at the yearly festival, but there are some big names outside of the board that will show up as well. • Jack White & Baseball: A History - Third Man Records Boss Not Always Sad At Cubs Games [PHOTOS/VIDEO]

  • Jack White Covers Lorde's 'Royals' In Concert [WATCH]

It looks like Jack White has joined Nirvana and Bruce Springsteen on the list of rockers who think Lorde is pretty cool. At a show in Milwaukee last night, July 21, White performed a cover of the New Zealand pop star's massive hit "Royals." As of right now, the only video footage of this performance is a brief, blurry video posted to Instagram, but it's definitely enough to get the picture and realize just how strange this must have been for the audience. Pitchfork reports that White has also performed covers of Jay-Z's "99 Problems" and the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog" during previous stops on his current tour.
  • Jack White Mashes Jay Z's '99 Problems' With 'Icky Thump' At Forecastle Festival [WATCH]

Although his collaboration with Jay Z was never released, Jack White still seems to be a fan of the rapper. On Saturday night, White kicked off the latest leg of his North American tour at Louisville's Forecastle Festival. As he has been doing on most dates this tour, he worked a few covers into the set. One of them took place during the encore and happened to be Jay Z's "99 Problems," which he mashed with his White Stripes hit "Icky Thump."

  • Beck, St. Vincent and Jack White: Music Times Names Its Midyear Favorites

Just in case you've never checked out the Junk Mail feature at Music Times, understand that staff disagreements on the quality of albums ranges from age-based immaturity to outright violence. If selecting the best records at the midyear point was this dramatic, we can only imagine what will happen at the end of 2014.
