The biggest music festival debut in the United States this year may very well be Rock in Rio, which will head to Las Vegas for two huge weekends in May. The festival added more firepower to a show already featuring headlining sets from Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Metallica and more. Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Jessie J, Bleachers, Tove Lo, Empire of The Sun and Echosmith are the latest performers to be added to the lineup as of Tuesday. -

A few days after Scott Weiland said he would be opened to reuniting with his former band, Stone Temple Pilots, the group announced that it would be making new music with current singer Chester Bennington. Bassist Robert DeLeo took to Twitter to let fans know that the band has been hard at work writing new tunes with the Linkin Park vocalist. Recording of the new album started today (Jan. 12). -

Vocalist Scott Weiland recently announced a new solo album, Blaster - his first since leaving Stone Temple Pilots in February of 2013. The effort, his fifth as a solo artist, will feature a new backing band, The Wildabouts. Weiland spoke to 107.7 The Bone recently and said that he wouldn't be opposed to hitting the road with his other previous band, the short-lived supergroup Velvet Revolver. -
Stone Temple Pilots Singer Scott Weiland Announces Album Release Date, Solo Tour [FULL SCHEDULE]
Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has announced the release date of his upcoming album "Blaster" as well as a string of tour dates in support of the album beginning in late February. According to an interview with "Rolling Stone," "Blaster" is set for release March 31 through Softdrive Records and will be Weiland's first album with his new backing band The Wildabouts. The tour in support of "Blaster" kicks off Feb. 22 in Scottsdale, Arizona, and finishes March 14 in Boston, though Weiland will be appearing at several festivals between March and May as well."Blaster" will be Weiland's third solo album overall, his first since 2008's "'Happy' in Galoshes," as well as his first since being fired from the Stone Temple Pilots in 2013 — he was ultimately replaced by Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington."'"Happy" in Galoshes' was an experimental art record, for the most part," Weiland tells "Rolling Stone." "'Blaster' is definitely a band sound: a stripped down, furry sound with a lot of space between the notes. But it's tight and to-the-point while keeping that garage rock vibe to it." -
