Blake Shelton stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (Jan. 23) to promote his upcoming host/musical guest gig on Saturday Night Live. Fallon, of course, had something fun planned for the country superstar. The pair played The Whisper Challenge, where one player wears headphones blaring loud music and the other says a phrase for them to guess. The game's big reveal was that Shelton has no clue who Benedict Cumberbatch is. -

Prince Presents Common and John Legend the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for 'Glory' from 'Selma' [WATCH]
Common and John Legend's moving tune "Glory," from the civil-rights film "Selma" took home the Golden Globe last night, Jan. 11, for Best Original Song. Prince was on hand to deliver the award to the delight of pretty much everyone in the crowd. The pair beat out artists like Lana Del Rey, Lorde and Patti Smith in the category. It is hard to say who received more applause: the winners or the presenter. Prince showed up almost out of nowhere and the crowd lost it — Louis C.K. and Channing Tatum went hard at whistling for the rocker. Common and Legend deserved this win. Their masterful song about the struggle for racial equality resonates now more than ever."The first day I stepped on the set of 'Selma,' I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie," Common, who also has a part in the film, said. "As I got to know the people of the civil rights movement, I realize I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty.""We still are in solidarity with those who are out there fighting for justice right now, and we're so grateful to write this song, hopefully, as an inspiration to them," Legend added. -

10 Best Late-Night Performances of 2014: Ryan Adams, Bobby Shmurda and Kendrick Lamar Make the List [WATCH]
The late-night performance has become a rite of passage in recent years for up-and-coming bands. For more established acts, it is a chance to play some songs from a new record. There is no denying that the moves made in 2014 in the late-night realm affected the quality of the performances. David Letterman is retiring in May, so he has just been enjoying it all — he really dug Ryan Adams. Jimmy Fallon took over "The Tonight Show," which meant The Roots adding their Philly funk to acts like Bobby Shmurda. And Stephen Colbert ended his tenure on "The Colbert Report" recently, wisely booking Kendrick Lamar for his final week. The last year was filled with great performances that may have been on past your bedtime. Here are a few of our favorites. -

Prince Shares Lyric Video For "Anotherlove" From Recent Album 'Plectrumelectrum' [WATCH]
Although Prince attempted to remove himself and his music from the Internet a few weeks ago, the legendary artist is apparently still using the web to promote his latest albums Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. Today (Dec. 23), the Purple One has premiered the lyric video for his Plectrumelectrum track "Anotherlove," an amped-up cover of Alice Smith's song from her 2013 album She. The video combines plenty of swirling psychedelic imagery with clips from Prince's recent performance on Saturday Night Live with his new backing band 3rdEyeGirl, and in true Prince fashion, all of the lyrics on the screen are written in his signature shorthand ("4" instead of "for," "2" instead of "to," all that jazz). -

'Purple Rain' Should Have Failed; Prince Journalist Revisits Classic Film, Album
It's easy to look back at Prince's overnight pop stardom after his perfectly bad landmark film Purple Rain and assume that The Purple One was a sure shot for stardom. Not so, says journalist Alan Light, whose new book, "Let's Go Crazy," details the ins and outs of Prince's megastardom. -
Watch Prince Sit In with Jazz Band to Play 'With a Little Help from My Friends' at W Hotel in Los Angeles [WATCH]
We have another Prince sighting. Sunday night, Nov. 30, Prince randomly decided to crash a jazz band's performance of "With a Little Help from My Friends." According to "Spin," Prince was a guest at the W Hollywood Hotel's jazz night Sunday when he decided to come down from his viewing position to sit in with the band to play The Beatles standard "With a Little Help from My Friends."Prince, with his impossible coolness, took the performance from being a good one, to being something many of those in attendance will not be forgetting for a long time. Nobody seemed to mind at all and the band appeared to be quite happy with the situation, because normally unsolicited sit-ins are not accepted. It is cool to see a rock star who does not think they are above musicians who are not at their level of fame or have the same talent as them and are willing to spontaneously do creative things with those other artists.
