EDM fans, except for the ones that hate Skrillex, were surprised to find Monday night that the dubstep DJ would be releasing a new album a lot sooner than they expected. As in, right at that moment. Those who had downloaded an app titled "Alien Ride" from Skrillex's website received access to a new track titled "All Is Fair In Love And Brostep." As the night continued, the other ten tracks from the album Recess were released, and previews became available on iTunes. The album is available for sale on March 18. -
Skrillex announces 20-city The Mothership Tour 2014
EDM juggernaut Skrillex won't just be hitting the major music festivals this summer, the producer/DJ will also be hitting embarking on a proper US tour. Today (March 10), Skrillex announced he will be hitting the road on a trek of shows properly called The Mothership Tour 2014. -
Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala team up for 'Feels Like We Only Go Backwards' remix
Kendrick Lamar's love affair with indie rock continues. The Compton rapper has now teamed up with Tame Impala for "Backwards," an updated version of the band's 2012 song "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards," Billboard reports. The collaboration will appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming SciFi flick, Divergent. -
Fishbone ordered to pay $1.4 million to fan injured in stage dive
Stage diving has become the latest concerts-may-kill-you craze in the last week, as several prominent performers have been accused of, and convicted of, causing injury by lunging into crowds from the stage. Music Times reported on Tuesday that EDM DJ Skrillex was being sued by a fan who alleged he caused her to have a stroke by stage diving, and now alternative rockers Fishbone are being ordered to pay a fan $1.4 million for injuries resulting from the stage antic. -

There's been plenty of concern thrown around regarding the EDM genre and the safety of its live shows. Most of that concern revolves around drinking and illegal drug use, the combination of which led to the deaths of numerous concertgoers during 2013. Dubstep titan Skrillex is facing legal action for a different kind of concert behavior however: stage diving. -

The increasing profitability of EDM has been a theme throughout the year in both Music Times as well as numerous financial publications. Many businessmen and promoters are looking to make a buck off the trend, but one the producers themselves are definitely cashing in, as Forbes' list of the highest paid DJ's indicates. Calvin Johnson topped the list for 2013, bringing in more than $46 million (a total that topped Jay Z's earnings for the year). -

Day of The Dead Electronic Festival Releases Stage Schedules; Skrillex, Deadmau5 and Bloody Beetroots Featured
HARD's Day of The Dead electronic music festival may be taking place a a little later than the actual Day of The Dead, but the organizers have gathered quite a lineup to make up for the fact. The event will go down at L.A. State Historic Park in Los Angeles during the weekend of November 2 and 3. The festival's website released the lineups of each of the four stages on Friday, all presented on some pretty awesome looking posters themed to the Mexican holiday the show is aligned with. -

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Howard says that he felt a little uncomfortable directing the documentary, seeing as he hadn't heard of many of the artists that were set to play. -
Calvin Harris Tops Forbes List of Highest Earning Electronic Music Artists
Forbes, in its ever-continuing goal of providing a list of the world's highest-earning everythings, expanded further by releasing the highest earning "DJs" on Wednesday. Topping the chart, and doing so in dominant fashion, was Scottish producer Calvin Harris.
