    Today marks the 50th anniversary of The Beach Boys' "Help Me Rhonda" reaching no. 1 on the Billboard charts. Although the song is of course a favorite of Boys fans, it's noted by more engaged followers of the group for its famous recording session. During the recording of the vocals, the father of Brian Wilson and the rest of the Wilson brothers, Murry Wilson, burst into the studio to lambast the group for what he perceived to be a lack of enthusiasm. The reel kept rolling as frontman Brian tried to calm his father down, and now copies of that version are coveted by those in-the-know. Murry was one of the most notorious parents in music history, working on his sons' behalf as a manager and coproducer, but ultimately making their lives worse because of it. He manipulated his children and reportedly hit Brian upside the head with a 2x4, causing the legendary musician to lose his hearing on that side of his head. Needless to say, many have blamed Brian's self-destructive habits and unhealthy obsession with music on Murry's callous handling. Here are five other notorious parents in the music industry.

    The first trailer for the new Brian Wilson biopic dropped recently. The movie was shown for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and is slated for a screening at South by Southwest in March. Lions Gate will release the biopic worldwide June 5, 'Billboard' noted.

In an interview with "The Sunday Times," via "NME," Joni Mitchell revealed that she has pulled the plug on the project, citing the casting of Taylor Swift as one of the primary reasons."I squelched that!" Mitchell admitted. "I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones.' It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes.""There's a lot of nonsense about me in books," Mitchell went on to say, "assumptions, assumptions, assumptions."The now-halted film was based on the book "Girls Like Us" by Sheila Weller, which followed the rise of Mitchell and her singer-songwriter contemporaries Carly Simon and Carole King during the 1970s. Swift was cast as Mitchell back in 2012, with "Mad Men's" Jessica Pare cast as Simon and "The Newsroom's" Alison Pill cast as King.

    2016 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Beach Boys' classic single "Good Vibrations," and to celebrate, singer Mike Love will be releasing a memoir titled Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy. According to Rolling Stone, the memoir is being co-written with author James S. Hirsch and will cover Love's entire life, beginning with his "early childhood and family story."
