The Flaming Lips are all about Record Store Day this year. The Black Friday event takes place on November 29, and along with the release of their Tame Impala collaboration EP and the vinyl edition of their recent Peace Sword EP, they have announced the premiere of their long-in-the-works Stone Roses covers album. -
The Flaming Lips Lip$ha collaboration album with Ke$ha has been called off
Sad news for fans looking forward to that Flaming Lips-Ke$ha collaboration that Wayne Coyne had promised. Look like that won’t be happening anymore. Coyne tweeted today that the album had been called off, “As of now . . . sadly there will be no Lip$ha . . . I can't say why . . . It is sad . . ." Rolling Stone confirmed the news with The Flaming Lips label, Warner Bros. earlier today. -
The Flaming Lips unveil cover of Tame Impala's 'Elephant' off upcoming joint EP
As previously reported, The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala are releasing a cover album of each other's music. The two bands begin touring together this month and have recorded covers "Runway, Houses, City Clouds" and "Elephant" (covered by the Flaming Lips) and "Are You A Hypnotist" and "Silver Trembling Hands" (covered by Tame Impala). The joint EP will be available at their upcoming shows. -
The Flaming Lips Release New Track 'Wolf Children' Off Upcoming Ender's Game-Inspired EP 'Peace Sword'
The Flaming Lips have premiered a new track, "Wolf Children" off the upcoming EP Peace Sword, which was inspired but the epic space story Ender's Game. The film based on Orson Scott Card's book opens Nov. 1 in theatres with the band digitally releasing the EP on Oct. 29. -
Yoko Ono and her Plastic Ono Band Teams Up With The Flaming Lips on Late Show With David Letterman To Perform 'Cheshire Cat Cry'
Yoko Ono and her Plastic Ono Band joined forces with the Flaming Lips last night on Late Show With David Letterman. The team performed "Cheshire Cat Cry" off Take Me to the Land of Hell. Ono shouted, "Stop the violence. Stop all wars!" intermittently between bouts of maniacal laughter. -
The Flaming Lips Will Drop Two EPs, A Collaboration With Tame Impala and a Sci-fi Concept Album Inspired by the Film 'Ender's Game'
Ever prolific, The Flaming Lips will be busy the next few months putting out two new EPs. For the first project, the Flaming Lips and Tame Impala will be covering each other songs. The second EP the band is working on is called Peace Sword, the first big release from the group since April's Terror. Right up the Flaming Lip's ally, the album is a sci-fi concept album inspired by the forthcoming film, Ender's Game, which comes out Nov. 1.
