Traditionally it has reserved a stage for the old-school house and techno styles of electronic music for Carl Cox and his curated stage, with a smattering of other names across other stages away from the main stage. In 2015, Ultra is making a serious commitment to the underground, giving it two stages, Resistance and Carl Cox and Friends, which has not announced its lineup yet, but he will have to find some names outside those on the Resistance lineup. -

According to multiple reports, Alex Omes, co-founder of Ultra Music Festival, has died at the age of 43. According to an NBC 6 Miami source, Omes died Tuesday in his home. The cause of death is still unknown. -
Ultra Music Festival Officially Announces 2015 Lineup Phase 1: Avicii, Skrillex, Tiësto, Hardwell Included
The lineup for Ultra Music Festival leaked before the New Year and took a lot of the momentum out of the announcement, but the festival has officially announced the first phase of artists who will be performing at Ultra. It has a mix of your typical headliners like Avicii, Alesso, Axwell / Ingrosso, Hardwell and Skrillex, with big name underground house and techno acts like Carl Cox, Dixon, Maceo Plex, Deep Dish, and Marco Carola. As is tradition with the festival, it likes to bring in a live component of electronic music, so other artists like Clean Bandit, Porter Robinson, RAC and Gorgon City will all perform live via a press release. -

Ultra Music Festival, one of the largest and most renowned of its kind, has a potential leak on its hands. Someone posted a picture online of the first phase of artists who will be potentially playing the festival this upcoming March. The festival has not confirmed the lineup, but MAKJ posted the same lineup on his Facebook saying that he will be playing at the festival, so it is looking like a done deal. -

Ultra Buenos Aires, the Argentinean edition of Ultra Music Festival has announced the first wave of artists who will be joining the festival this February on Feb. 20 and 21. The first batch of headliners will be Adam Beyer, who is hosting his own stage, Afrojack, Alesso, Axwell / Ingrosso, Dash Berlin, Marco Carola, New World Punx, the duo of Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz, Porter Robinson performing live and Tiësto. -

Security Guard Injured in Ultra Music Festival Incident Brings $10 Million Lawsuit against EDM Event Planners

Next year's rendition isn't at risk yet but promoters can't be feeling too good with a new lawsuit on its hands. Erica Mack, the security guard who suffered serious injuries after festival-crashers knocked over a fence on top of her, has filed a lawsuit against Ultra for $10 million according to Dancing Astronaut. -

EDM festivals have been in hot water the past few years for drug-related tragedies, behavioral arrests and unmanageable chaos. Electric Zoo cracked down this year on their entrance policies and now Ultra Music Festival has announced it will no longer be all-ages. The 2015 edition, March 27-29, will require attendees be at least 18 years old, Billboard reports. -
Electric Zoo Festival Ecstasy Overdose Dealer Arrested
Almost one year after two fatal overdoses at the 2013 Electric Zoo Festival, a man has been arrested for allegedly supplying drugs to one of the victims. Patrick Morgan, 23, was arrested this morning after being accused of selling Molly to victim Jeffrey Russ and two others.
