Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco, popularly known for his Moniker Dr. Velásquez, has passed away; he was found dead with his girlfriend at his home in Colombia.

According to Billboard, the couple was found shot to death in the hitmaker's home in Envigado, Medellín, in Colombia.

El Tiempo reported that the musician was with his uncle chatting inside their house, and then the relative went outside to buy liquor; upon returning home, he found the deceased body of his nephew with a gunshot wound in his head.

His partner was also found dead, wrapped in a sheet in one of the rooms at his home.

His record label, JMW Music, confirmed the tragic news in a statement posted on its official Instagram account.

"With deep pain, we inform you of the death of Dr. Velásquez, renowned singer, composer, manager, businessman, and paisa dreamer," the letter, translated into English by the outlet, reads.

JMW Music added that Dr. Velásquez was a pioneer within the music scene in his city, as he founded the largest and first reggaeton hub in Medellín.

"His legacy and passion for music left an indelible mark on the industry and in the hearts of those who knew him. In this moment of pain, we ask for prudence and respect for his family, friends, and colleagues," they added.

In a separate statement, the record label clarified that although the case is currently under investigation, judicial authorities have ruled out the possibility of suicide.

They also noted that the main suspect in the crime has already been caught and is in custody.

Dr. Velásquez is a renowned name within the Colombian music scene. He is responsible for the fame of some of the most popular artists in his country, such as Maluma, J Balvin, Reykon, and many more.

Prior to being a hitmaker, an artist manager, and a businessman, he also had a solo music career from 2014 to 2018. He released several hit songs, such as "Dime," "Tú Volveras," and "Brujería," which enabled him to become renowned in countries like Paraguay, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Chile.
