Fetty Wap, real name Willie Maxwell, has been the revelation of 2015. Everything he has put out recently has been a hit and the momentum does not appear to be stopping. "Trap Queen" was the song of the winter, spring and could continue to keep that title through the summer. Award season came and went in the fall and winter, so "Trap Queen" has not earned any major hardware yet, but Music Choice gave out some half-year awards and gave the "My Way" rapper the award for the most played video of the year so far. Maxwell got pretty emotional upon receiving it because apparently this was the first award he had apparently ever been given. Watch the video below via Pigeons and Planes.
We have a hunch that this won't be the last time Wap gets his hands on some hardwear and it will probably be something more prestigious (no offense to Music Choice).
Fetty Wap continues to make noise in 2015. He has become one of the most in-demand feature artists because of his unique delivery. He has featured on tracks from the likes of Gucci Mane, Rich the Kid, Yalee, Baauer, Natalie La Rose and others, while also having his own tracks remixed. "My Way" was reworked by none other than Drake, who personally reached out to the Patterson, NJ rapper to get a copy of the tune for an official remix that has been a part of the Toronto rapper's sets since. Maxwell's second mixtape, Zoo Style was released in March.
To top things off, Maxwell was included in the prestigious XXL 2015 Freshman Class, alongside other rappers like Vince Staples and Tink.
