• Jennifer Aniston Wants to Direct, Produce and Be a 'Superhero'

Jennifer Aniston has been promoting the heck out of her indie film "Cake," and it seems that with every stop she makes the buzz gets a little bit stronger. Earlier this week, Aniston sat for a Lincoln Center screening of the flick and then attended a Q&A session afterword with costar Anna Kendrick. The ladies took a bunch of questions and Kendrick admitted that the fact that Aniston was producing and acting in "Cake" played a major part in her deciding to do the film. It likely will not be the last time Aniston has more say in her films, either.According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Aniston has only just begun to get her feet wet in the role of producing and it is a process that excites her, possibly more than acting."That's a bug that gets you once you do it. We're just waiting for the proper window of time and the proper piece of material. There has been a beautiful project that was about to happen that ended up falling apart for all sorts of reasons. ... Maybe it's being a control freak, I don't know, but wanting to be a part of a seed and seeing it turn into something wonderful is exciting. It's fun to explore other areas of our industry other than being an actor-for-hire. It's quite fulfilling," explained Aniston.
  • Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at War Over Where to Spend Christmas

It is starting to seem like Kim Kardashian's life with Kanye West is little more than a series of fights that carry on from one day to the next. The couple has barely been married for more than six months, and it seems that there is rarely any good news leaking out about them! We already know they were apart for Thanksgiving, with West opting to be in Paris rather than enjoying a big meal with his wife's family. Now it seems that Christmas is turning into an ugly battle as well.Fans of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" already know that once the holidays roll around, Kris Jenner traditionally pulls out all the stops. No matter what trouble is brewing between family members, everything seems to be shelved in favor of celebrating together. Kardashian is fully intending to spend Christmas at Jenner's home and she wants little North West to be able to enjoy the holiday with her cousins, Kourtney Kardashian's kids.Unfortunately, West has a totally different plan in mind. He wants to spend the holiday in Paris with his wife and daughter, where he can celebrate without Jenner's inevitable chaos and also get some work done. According to Radar Online, Kardashian is refusing to spend Christmas anywhere but at home together with her entire family. So far she is not considering a trip to Paris, and sources say that in Kardashian's mind it is not even an option.
  • Boston Bombing Suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Makes Brief Court Appearance as Trial Begins in January

Thursday morning, Dec. 18, marked the first time in more than a year that Dzokhar Tsarnaev stood before a federal judge in a Boston courtroom. He was asked to appear in person so it could be put on the record that he is satisfied with his representation ahead of his trial, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 5. The last time Tsarnaev was seen in public was when he pled not guilty to at least 30 charges in a terrorism indictment that was in connection to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured 260.As it stands now, Tsarnaev's trial is set to begin in a few weeks and is expected to last between three and five months. While Massachusetts no longer has the death penalty on the table, Tsarnaev is facing federal charges, which do carry death as a possible punishment. Insiders seem to believe that even if the 21-year-old is sentenced to death, it is unlikely he will ever be executed.
  • A Rash in Bets Made Bookmakers Think that Queen Elizabeth May Abdicate the Throne on Christmas Day

Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. At least, that is the thinking that prompted a popular British bookmaker to suspend betting on the notion that Queen Elizabeth II will announce that she is abdicating the throne during her Christmas Day speech. Apparently, a rash of bets were rolling in, leading Coral to initially offer odds of 10-1 that Elizabeth was about to hand over power. Then they suspected that maybe a tip had come from Buckingham Palace, leading to the sudden spike, and so they suspended betting altogether. As for whether or not Elizabeth actually is ready to shift power over to either Prince Charles or Prince William, sources say it is not happening. The queen signed on for a lifetime of serving the British people, and that is how she intends to spend her final days right to the end. While it is the palace's official policy not to comment on anything connected to bookmakers, it is worth noting that Elizabeth has never addressed any kind of personal matters during her Christmas Day message and this year's has already been recorded.Queen Elizabeth's health has been failing for the last few years, but no serious diagnosis has ever been made public. We simply have heard that old age is causing her body to slow down, but in day-to-day life the queen is still quite hands-on with the family business. Given that fact, it makes sense that she would be more inclined to hang on to power until her last breath.
  • Sony Faces Backlash from Hollywood After Shelving 'The Interview' Amid Terrorist Threats

It seems Sony has found itself in the kind of a situation that offers no easy solution. After weeks of being hacked and embarrassed on an international level, it has finally been confirmed by the U.S. government that North Korea is behind the cyber attack, and the effect has been all but crippling for the movie house. Ultimately, the hackers were working hard to scare Sony into shelving its comedy "The Interview," which was scheduled to hit theaters Christmas Day, and as of now their efforts have worked. The film, a comedy about taking out North Korea's Kim Jong Un, seems to have been put to rest permanently, and much of Hollywood seems furious about it.Aside from having to crawl out from the initial humiliation, not only of actually being hacked but then the mortification that the contents of various emails have been leaked, the company was left with a huge problem on its hands. Within the last week Seth Rogen and James Franco began canceling different media interviews that were intended to promote "The Interview," and as of yesterday both actors had been photographed with bodyguards. The stars connected to the project have feared for their own safety, so it makes sense Sony would proceed with extra caution.
  • The Feds Raided 'RHONJ' Teresa Giudice's Home This Week, Taking Everything from Cash to Her Kids's Christmas Gifts

It looks like once again Teresa Giudice decided that following the rules did not apply to her, and boy, is she regretting it now. It was actually quite simple: The star of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" was required to submit a payment plan to the court, mapping out how she and Joe Giudice intended to pay back the $214,000 they owed in restitution. But instead of doing that, Teresa ignored the situation and avoided making contact with the court, and the end result was a huge slap in the face by law enforcement, as the Giudice family home was reportedly raided earlier this week.According to Radar Online, since Teresa was not volunteering to set up a payment plan, then the feds barged in and took valuables, electronics and some hidden cash."Teresa was home and was absolutely stunned by the raid. She had no clue they were coming. She was absolutely hysterical and begging them not to take the girls's Christmas presents. A large amount of cash was found in the wine cellar. This all could have been avoided if Teresa had simply submitted a proposed plan to pay off the restitution. Yet Teresa chose to once again thumb her nose at the law, and was ignoring it," said a source.

The last several weeks have been pretty sad for the MTV family, as they have lost two members far too young. Diem Brown was as well-known for her struggles with cancer as she was for her fearlessness on several seasons of "The Challenge," and she was actually filming when she found out that cancer had spread to her colon. • If Kim Kardashian Wants to Hang On to Kanye West, She Needs to Distance Herself from Her Family

It is obvious that Kanye West fully expects to be the boss in his marriage to Kim Kardashian. It is almost like he purposely keeps her working so she does not have much free time to even contemplate doing anything he would not approve of. That is not an accident, either. West likes to float around Paris without a care in the world, but you better believe he needs to know exactly where his wife is at all times. When West decides to spend quality time together, he also expects Kardashian to drop everything for him, and that is starting to cause some conflict between the couple. She may be willing to let go of some friendships, but Kim Kardashian's sisters are still a priority and it is beginning to tick her husband off.Last weekend, Kourtney Kardashian delivered her third child and Kim was totally on board to help with her sister's little ones. In fact, she posted a play date photo on Instagram of Kourtney's kids and little North West heading to Disney on Ice.Helping out family is perfectly normal, but not in West's world. According to a report by Hollywood Life, he is jealous of all the attention Kourtney's new baby has brought because it is disrupting his plans.
  • After 5 Years in Captivity, Cuba Has Released American Contractor Alan Gross in a Prisoner Swap

Just a few short weeks after learning that the United States launched a failed attempt to rescue one of our hostages, Luke Somers, who was being held in Yemen, we are now hearing of another hostage who has been released. Alan Gross, 65, was working as a U.S. contractor in Cuba in 2009 when he was arrested for bringing telecommunications devices into the country. He was later convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison, but as of this morning, Dec. 17, Gross is on a plane bound for Washington, D.C.According to ABC News, Gross has been in poor health for some time and has refused medical care. Gross is said to now be blind in one eye, suffering from arthritis in one hip and nearly toothless. He was also staging a hunger strike, which he promised would ultimately lead to his death if he was not released this year. In exchange for Gross, the U.S. has agreed to hand over three Cuban agents who were convicted of espionage back in the 1990s. Sources say all three have been housed at a federal medical facility in North Carolina.
