    The animator John Kricfalusi, who was behind the slightly demented 90s cartoon The Ren and Stimpy Show, has teamed up with Miley Cyrus to create an opening video for her Bangerz tour. The clip shows caricaturized versions of Cyrus, her producer Mike Will Made It, goofy animals and robots.

    The highly anticipated Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side debuts in the U.S. next week at South by Southwest, and today a clip from the filmed as surfaced online via Rolling Stone. The video shows Hendrix (Andre 3000) with his friend Linda Keith (Imogen Poots) in a New York restaurant chatting with future manager Chas Chandler (Andrew Buckley), who wants to get Hendrix to London. At the time, UK guitarists were playing blues-inspired music, but Hendrix was afraid of getting caught up in labels.

    Last week, we reported that Lady Gaga was denied a permit to play the Doritos stage, a.k.a. a 56-foot vending machine-shaped stage, in the parking lot of a restaurant in Austin. The city said they would work with her to find a venue more suitable to the crowds she would likely draw. Now the ARTPOP singer is set to headline the outdoor stage at Stubbs on March 13, which will become the temporary location of the Dorito's #BoldStage that night.

  • Piano used in The Beatles' film 'Help!' and other memorabilia up for auction March 20

    Beatles fans who have money to spend on memorabilia have an opportunity to own another relic: the piano John Lennon and Paul McCartney played while shooting the 1965 film Help!. According to Rolling Stone, the title song as well as McCartney's "Yesterday" was composed on the 1907 Bechstein Concert Grand. The current owner is the movie's director, Richard Lester, and the piece is expected to go for £50,000 (over US $83,600) when it goes up for auction at Omega Auctions in Liverpool on March 20.
  • Decemberists to play first show in three years at benefit concert in May

    The Decemberists are returning to the stage for the first time in three years on May 30 to perform a benefit concert with Sallie Ford at Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon, Consequence of Sound reports. The band is set to perform their 2002 debut, Castaways and Cutouts, in full as well as other hits and possibly a few new tracks.
  • HBO enlists Common, Big Boi, Wale, Daddy Yankee and more for official 'Game of Thrones' mixtape

    HBO has an interesting marketing strategy to increase the viewer reach of Game of Thrones. According to The Wall Street Journal, they've hired 10 hip-hop and Latin-music artists to rap about the series on a 10-song mixtape dubbed Catch The Throne. Among those they've enlisted are Wale, Big Boi, Daddy Yankee, Common and Bodega Bamz. The project will feature the artists rapping and singing about sword fights, fire-breathing dragons and more over beats made from samples from the show. It will be released for free online March 7.
  • Deftones at work on eighth studio album

    The Deftones have revealed details of a new album in the work, Rolling Stone reports. Frontman Chino Moreno spoke at Melobourne's Soundwave Festival saying that though he hasn't begun work himself on their eighth effort the rest of the band started last week. "I'm excited to hear what they've done so far," he said."
  • Phoenix announces North American tour dates [SCHEDULE]

    Phoenix has announced a run of North American dates in continued support of 2013's Bankrupt!. In between slots at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo, the group will hit Montreal, Washington, Detroit and Toronto. Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes will be their opener.

    As previously reported, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and ex-Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López along with Bosnian Rainbows' Teri Gender Bender and Swahili Blonde drummer Nicole Turley have formed a new supergroup sextet called Kimono Kult featuring instrumentals from Dante White and Laena Geronimo. The Los Angeles-based collective releases their debut EP, Hiding In The Light, today via Neurotic Yell Record and are streaming the four-track effort in full.

Adding to the eclectic assortment of music are Snoop Dogg AKA Snoop Lion, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, The String Cheese Incident, STS9, Jerry Lee Lewis, Grouplove, Bone Thugs-N-Harmoy, 311, Juicy J, and Wolfmother.
