9 Albums That Open With Instrumentals: Simon & Garfunkel, Modest Mouse And More
Last week I wrote about albums that end on instrumental tracks, which I described as sort of epilogues to the album's narrative structure. If ending an album on an instrumental is an epilogue, opening with one must be a prologue, a way to ease the listener in. Here are nine albums that open with instrumental tracks. -

6 Album Covers That Reference Movies: Weird Al, Ringo Starr, And More
If you want your album cover to catch someone's eye when they're looking around for music online or in a record store, one good way is to design an album cover that looks strangely familiar. These six artists did just that by basing their album covers off of famous movies. -
6 Comeback Albums That Were Surprisingly Great: Black Sabbath, Dinosaur Jr., And More
The idea of a once-great band or artist coming out of retirement and making new music can seem very exciting, but there are far too many cases where this new music simply isn't up to par. However, these six artists broke this trend by releasing come back albums that were actually worthy entries in their catalogue. -
14 Album Covers With An Illustration Of The Artist: The Beatles, OutKast, And More
Sure, a photograph of the artist is probably the simplest route to take when designing an album cover, but a painting or a drawing can sometimes proves to be far stranger. Here are 14 album covers with an illustration of the artist. -

New Zealand pop star Lorde has always come off as an indie rocker who accidentally infiltrated and conquered the world of mainstream pop, but yesterday, fan-run Twitter account Lorde Daily uncovered some of the "Royals" singer's pre-fame indie rock roots. Back in the long-lost days of 2012, Lorde performed with Auckland "future noir" band And They Were Masked, contributing vocals (under her real name Ella Yelich O'Connor) on two songs for an album called Characters, which you can listen to below. The band's influences include The Mars Volta, PJ Harvey, Fugazi, Battles, and Fela Kuti, so it's not exactly Pure Heroine. -

Pharrell Launches 'The Pharrell Burger' At Tokyo Restaurant
It's been a few minutes since Pharrell has contributed to a hit song, so he's taking this time to briefly step away from music and try his hand at the culinary arts. At NIGO's 2-5 Café in Tokyo, a new burger has just been launched called The Pharrell Burger, which is a burger topped with melted cheese, chopped onions, a thick tomato slice, "chunky sauce" (whatever that may be), and mustard. The pictures of the Pharrell Burger are pretty astounding, and you can go check them out over at Rap Wave. -

Kim Kardashian: Kanye West Once Ordered Chinese Food From Jail [WATCH]
In a recent episode of the reality series Keeping Up The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian shares a pretty ridiculous story about her husband Kanye West and his trip to jail a few years ago. Back in 2008, the "Bound 2" rapper spent a day in jail after destroying a paparazzo's camera, but when he was given his customary phone call, he apparently used it not to call his lawyer, but to order take-out from a Beverly Hills Chinese restaurant called Mr. Chows. The story ends before we find out if Mr. Chows actually ended up delivering to West's jail cell, but I'm just going to go ahead and assume that yes, they did, because that's a hilarious image to me. -

Morrissey Tells Fans To 'Not Feel Powerless' In New Statement
Taking a break from canceling concerts and deflecting accusations of attempted murder, Morrissey took to his website True To You yesterday to thank his fans for their support of his most recent album, World Peace is None of Your Business, which was released on July 15. Being written by Morrissey, however, this thank you letter wasn't without jabs towards his usual targets: the British royal family, the music industry, and of course, meat consumption. -

Taylor Swift Gives Fan $90 For Chipotle, Continues To Prove She's An Incredibly Sweet Person
I'm generally not the kind of person who's blown away when celebrities act like rational, polite human beings, but two weeks ago, pop star Taylor Swift surprised a fan with a birthday gift that even I thought was incredibly sweet. On July 24th, while taking a stroll through Central Park with a reporter from Rolling Stone, Swift stopped to take a photo with a fan that spotted her from a rowboat (she helped her out of the rowboat, by the way). Then, after finding out that it just so happened to be the fan's birthday, Swift gave her $90 out of her own purse to go have lunch at Chipotle. -
Kid Rock Hilariously Responds To Insane Clown Posse Glass Dildo Subpoena
You may remember that a few weeks back, Kid Rock had received a subpoena to hand over a piece of evidence in a sexual harassment case involving Detroit rap duo Insane Clown Posse. According to the lawsuit, the duo's former publicist Andrea Pellegrini had once received a glass dildo as a gift from Psychopathic Records employee "Dirty Dan" Diamond, who allegedly gave it to none other than Kid Rock after Pellegrini had obviously refused it. I'd like to stress the word allegedly here, because apparently Kid Rock not only doesn't have the dildo, he's also never met Diamond or anyone involved in the case, at least according to a pair of letters the singer posted to his website today, which you can read below.
