He has the No. 1 single in the US, gave the Oscars an extra dose of pep last night with an energetic performance, his new album "G I R L" dropped at midnight and now for yet another week "Happy" topped the UK Singles Charts, surpassing one million copies sold in that country. -

Things are looking optimistic for America, as Pharrell Williams' track "Happy" rose to the top of the Billboard Digital Downloads chart last week (not that a song named "Sad" was ever at the top). Williams got a continued boost from radio play, Beats commercials, DVD sales of Despicable Me 2, The NBA All-Star Game...just about everything. The track jumped 31 percent in sales and moved 329,000. -

Sweetlife Music and Food Festival has announced its 2014 lineup. Lana Del Rey will top the bill for her first East Coast gig of the year, joined by Foster the People, 2 Chainz, Fitz and the Tantrums, Capital Cities, Chromeo, St. Lucia and Bastille. The one-day festival takes place May 10 at Columbia, Maryland's Merriweather Post Pavillion — just outside of Washington D.C. and Baltimore. -

Bastille working on new material in between tour dates
In a recent interview with Billboard, Bastille's Will Farquarson said that the band is working on its sophomore album here and there while on the road. Before they resumed touring this past weekend, they had spent some time in the studio back in London.
