Bringing in featured talent for a country tune has increased in popularity over the past few years. This year's nominees in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category are split between solid solo acts calling in their buddies and groups that conquered the charts with no assistance. Keith Urban and Eric Church collaborated on "Raise 'Em Up" while Tim McGraw brought in his wife, Faith Hill, for "Meanwhile Back at Mama's." Then there's the power duo of Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood on "Somethin' Bad." But the two big contenders here are Little Big Town and The Band Perry. -
Little Big Town Add March Dates to 'Pain Killer' Tour [FULL SCHEDULE]
Though country group Little Big Town finished their Pain Killer Tour last week on Dec. 13, they have already announced a new string of dates for March 2015. The next leg of the tour will kick off March 5 in Savannah, Georgia, and finish up March 28 in Enid, Oklahoma, making stops in Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa and Missouri in between. Black Friday Music Sales Numbers Down; Pentatonix 'That's Christmas to Me' Is Most Popular Holiday Release
The music industry has taken a few hits over the past few years with physical CD sales continually decreasing. Merchants were hoping for a successful Black Friday, but they were met with disappointment. Album sales were down 15 percent from last year, Neilsen Music reports.On the positive side, online CD sales were up 16 percent while vinyl nearly doubled its numbers from last year thanks to Record Store Day's "Back to Black" promotion. CMA Country Christmas: Steven Tyler, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and More Play Holiday Favorites [WATCH]
The 2014 edition of the "CMA Country Christmas" special aired last night, Dec. 1, and it featured some big names and classic tunes. Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and Little Big Town were on hand to spread some holiday cheer. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler stopped by, and the whole event was hosted by Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, who has been in control of the show for the last few years. Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes and Lucy Hale all contributed songs.A few of the highlights from the show came in the form of duets between artists of the country persuasion and guests from other genres. Tyler and Paisley teamed up for a revved-up version of "Run, Run Rudolph" that showcased the country star's guitar chops.
