This year, R&B and rap were recognized in a big way at the 2014 Grammys. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis really took over the genre for the awards. In addition to just taking home multiple trophies, they made a huge impression during their performance when Queen Latifah joined them to officiate the marriages 33 couples and Madonna joined in. When asked what Latifah thinks about the winners in the Best New Artist category, she told Los Angeles Times: "Macklemore & Lewis are hugely successful with Grammy after Grammy for making good music and for talking about things that matter to people." -

Two of this year's biggest new acts appear to be coming together for the 2014 BRIT Awards, according to a hint on Twitter. Earlier today, the BRIT Awards posted a photo of Lorde, whose face is outlined a la Disclosure, with the tags "#BRITs2014 and "@disclosure @lordemusic." -

The Grammys got mixed reviews, as always, for its Sunday night broadcast. Fans love some award picks and hated others. Loved some performances and hated others. We're sure CBS hopes you were happy with the presentation, but the network's first priority is always going to be the program's ratings. So while you may still be sickened by so-and-so winning such-and-such, CBS can sleep easy tonight thanks to another tremendous turnout for the "biggest night in music." -

Beyoncé and Jay Z started the Grammys off with a performance a highly sexualized performance of Bey's new single "Drunk In Love," but it's not like the first minute of her performance was cut off on the telecast. Unfortunately, the night's powerhouse closers Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age and Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham performance wasn't given the same respect and was cut short at the end of the show. -

Even though Taylor Swift thought she did (and then didn't) take home Album of the Year last night at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, the "biggest night in music" was still a huge celebratory fest for country music's most popular acts. Though the genre failed to take home any of the night's major awards, country was represented quite well with five (and a half) performances. -
2014 GRAMMY WINNERS: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney show the old guard can still hold its own in the rock genre
This year, the Grammys honored the founding fathers of the rock genre. Led Zeppelin won Best Rock Album for Celebration Day after never picking up a Grammy during their creative peak. Black Sabbath, as expected, took home Best Metal Performance for "God Is Dead?" Best Rock Song went to the super group, unofficially dubbed "Sirvana," made up of Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear for their song "Cut Me Some Slack." Imagine Dragons represented the new guard with its Best Rock Performance win, and Vampire Weekend picked up Best Alternative Album for Modern Vampires of the City.
