As World AIDS Day approaches on December 1, (RED) looks to pair its mission with influential artists across the music space. It has already teamed up with deadmau5 to give away a chance to hang out with the artist and get a custom made mau5head, so now it seems logical for the organization to work with Swedish superstar Avicii.
The organization has been active in the dance space in the past, as it looks to activate millennials to its cause. It has released a dance.red compilation the past two years. The first in 2012 was curated by Tiesto, and featured a collaboration between the superstar DJ and U2. In 2013 the organization partnered with Australian festival dance series Stereosonic to present its live stream and help sponsor the festival.
In 2014, the organization has ramped up its efforts by teaming up with artists across the musical spectrum, but staying honed in on dance music. They are teaming up with deadmau5 to giveaway a chance to hang out with him in his Toronto studio and get a customized mau5head and are now working with another superstar, Avicii.
Avicii has a history of charitable work himself. He founded the charity House Of Hunger back in 2011 to try and alleviate the problem of hunger in the United States. On his 2011 tour across the United States, according to the Huffington Post, he donated $1 million to the charity from his ticket sales.
The contest offers a variety of different entries, but the grand prize puts you and a friend right next to Avicii as he performs in NYC, Ibiza and Las Vegas. You will fly first class and stay in four-star hotels along the way. As Dancing Astronaut notes, there are a whole host of prizes for those who donate differing amounts of money, including autographed apparel, vinyl and speakers. Enter the contest here.
