• Tencent and YG Entertainment Strike Deal for Exclusive Digital Distribution of Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1 and More K-Pop Stars

    Korea and Japan aren't the only countries in Asia with pop music markets, you know. The problem for China is that demand for its own homegrown Mandopop and Cantopop (Mandarin and Cantonese-language pop music, respectively) is not nearly as high at home as that for its more popular Korean neighbors and the music it produces. Chinese web giant Tencent stands to make a huge profit by entering a deal with Korean music label YG Entertainment—home to stars such as Psy, Big Bang and 2NE1—for sole distribution of some of Korea's biggest acts online to the world's largest population.

    The 2014 edition of the "CMA Country Christmas" special aired last night, Dec. 1, and it featured some big names and classic tunes. Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and Little Big Town were on hand to spread some holiday cheer. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler stopped by, and the whole event was hosted by Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, who has been in control of the show for the last few years. Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes and Lucy Hale all contributed songs.A few of the highlights from the show came in the form of duets between artists of the country persuasion and guests from other genres. Tyler and Paisley teamed up for a revved-up version of "Run, Run Rudolph" that showcased the country star's guitar chops. The Aerosmith frontman has let on recently that he will be working on his next solo effort in Nashville, so this is a nice welcome to the scene.Check out the harmonica solo at 3:25:

    Houston rapper Travi$ Scott has shared the music video for his song “Mamacita” featuring Atlanta rappers Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, which you can check out below.The freaky video finds the three rappers — as well as their label head T.I., who makes a cameo — in a desolate parking lot, featuring plenty of scantily clad women in glow-in-the-dark, zombie makeup.     With holiday-themed LPs, sweaters and everything in between dropping out of the sky from your favorite musicians, it was time for Red Bull Music to amass their massive pool of talent for a special, end-of-the-year/holiday giveaway. Red Bull Music has launched a new campaign 20Before15, where it will give away songs from 20 of the wide range of artists it has supported and help grow over the past few years. There is a small caveat to the giveaway: There will only be 1,000 versions of each song given away, so you have to act quickly to get your copy.According to the press release, artists to be included in the giveaway spree include eclectic producer/DJ TOKiMONSTA, Odd Future member Earl Sweatshirt, psychedelic tropical bass group Dengue Dengue Dengue and Lebanese blue rock duo The Wanton Bishops. TOKiMONSTA kicked off the spree yesterday with her new tune "Pinching" alongside Snoop Dogg-approved Polish singer Iza Lach, known professionally as Iza.     After being announced by his manager on Instagram, Avicii has released his new EP "The Days / Nights" featuring two tracks that have already been previewed and two new remixes from Swedish producer Henrik B and German producer Felix Jaehn."The Days" was already released as a single in October and "The Nights" was included in the "FIFA 15" soundtrack but never saw an official release besides a Spotify stream. Now "The Nights" is available on all portals with its opposing partner in addition to two added remixes from artists Avicii has been keen on."The Days" and "The Nights" continue down the road that Avicii has paved for himself with "Wake Me Up," managing to merge country, folk and EDM. Tabbing U.K. heavyweight singer and former Take That frontman Robbie Williams on "The Days," Avicii delivers his folksiest track to date next to "Hey Brother.""The Nights" follows the same vein, but veers more electronic with cheery, pitched synth melodies under the vocals of Swedish DJ favorite Salem Al Fakir.
